According to Coinpost, U.S. Republican Senator Ted Cruz filed a bill on March 30 against the Federal Reserve’s direct issuance of central bank digital currency (CBDC) to individuals. Ted Cruz said a personal CBDC could become a tool for financial surveillance of U.S. citizens. Previously, cryptocurrency proponent Senator Tom Emmer, a member of the U.S. Congress, had submitted a similar bill in January, this time as a companion bill. Tom Emmer also said: "Unlike Bitcoin, a decentralized digital currency, CBDC is a government surveillance tool."
