TrendForce: China Accelerates High-End AI Chip Self-Reliance, Domestic Solutions to Reach Nearly 90% of Market by 2026

On August 10, the latest supply chain survey from Taiwan-based market research firm TrendForce showed that despite recent reports suggesting China might relax import restrictions on NVIDIA H200, opening new possibilities for the chip's entry into the Chinese market, significant uncertainty remains over whether H200 shipments to China can be successfully completed. Against the backdrop of restricted high-end GPU imports, China's AI industry has not slowed down; instead, it is accelerating the construction of an independent and controllable domestic AI supply chain. TrendForce noted that the Chinese government has continued to promote the application of domestic AI chips this year, with related policy support expected to prioritize domestic manufacturers with significant development potential, helping them expand their share in China's high-end AI server market. Meanwhile, China's domestic AI industry chain is maturing rapidly in key areas such as advanced process technology, advanced packaging, and thermal management, providing support for further expansion of domestic high-end AI chip applications. With the continuous improvement of domestic chips and the supporting industry chain, China's AI infrastructure is gradually reducing its dependence on overseas GPUs and forming a dual-track development model of 'domestic GPUs + specialized ASICs.' TrendForce projects that domestic solutions will account for nearly 90% of China's high-end AI chip market by 2026, indicating that the supply structure of China's high-end AI chip market is rapidly shifting toward local solutions.
