Asian Stock Markets Open Lower but Close Higher; Nikkei 225 Hits New High

On June 17, the Nikkei 225 index closed up 497.75 points, an increase of 0.72%, finishing at 69,902.25 points, marking a new closing high. The South Korean KOSPI index also rose, closing up 137.64 points, or 1.58%, at 8,864.24 points.
