Coinbase (COIN), the US-based cryptocurrency exchange, has recently garnered a positive forecast from Bank of America, one of Wall Street’s leading financial institutions, which has upgraded its rating to “buy.”

This shift comes after a thorough evaluation of Coinbase’s strategic positioning, as the company prepares for a potentially successful 2026. This follows a 2025 in which major acquisitions were made to significantly expand the range of services offered beyond mere trading.

Bank Of America Upgrades Coinbase’s Prospects

Research analyst Craig Siegenthaler from Bank of America highlighted several factors contributing to this optimistic outlook. He noted that Coinbase’s ongoing product expansion, strategic pivots, and an appealing valuation create a solid foundation for the company’s performance in the coming years.

Siegenthaler specifically attributed the bank’s revised stance on Coinbase’s stock, COIN, to an acceleration in product velocity and a pullback in the stock price observed during the second half of 2025.

Recent market data shows that the cryptocurrency exchange’s shares have fallen approximately 40% from their peaks of $445 reached back in July of last year, making this a more attractive entry point for investors.

The exchange is also diversifying its offerings, looking beyond cryptocurrency to include stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and prediction markets. According to Siegenthaler, this expansion brings Coinbase closer to realizing its vision of becoming the “everything exchange.”

Это падение привело к ликвидации позиций на сумму $440 миллионов, 70% из которых составляли длинные позиции. Индекс Coinbase Premium Index сигнализировал о слабом покупательском давлении со стороны американских инвесторов, и общее рыночное настроение, несмотря на рост в январе, выглядело осторожным.

В публикации на X криптоаналитик Аксель Адлер-младший обратил внимание на Единый индекс настроений биткоина. Впервые с ноября 2025 года настроения инвесторов изменились с тревожных на нейтральные.

Это не подтверждает идею устойчивого оптимизма и покупательского давления.  Как показал недавний рост до локального уровня сопротивления в 94 500 долларов, трейдеры и краткосрочные держатели готовы быстро фиксировать прибыль.

С другой стороны, появились свидетельства растущей покупательной способности на криптовалютном рынке. AMBCrypto сообщила, что новый год начался с притока новых стейблкоинов на биржи, сопровождаемого слабыми положительными потоками капитала.

В августе и сентябре 2025 года видимый спрос падал, даже несмотря на то, что цены выросли до 124 000 долларов, дважды пытаясь пробить этот уровень. Это показало, что спрос замедляется.

Положительный видимый спрос и рост цен предполагают, что активные покупки поглощают старые монеты, поступающие на рынок. Однако, как только это поглощение замедляется, бычий рынок обычно теряет импульс и начинает угасать.

Monero [XMR] was up 4.2% in 24 hours and 11% in a week. The privacy coin sector has taken a hit in the past week.

The fallout between ZCash [ZEC] and the Electronic Coin Company (EEC) sparked an immediate market reaction. ZEC dropped nearly 20% in a single day before rebounding shortly afterward.

This could have led to greater capital flows into Monero, another leading privacy coin. It was pushing toward its all-time high at $517, aided by the ZEC fallout and the relative strength in the altcoin sector in January.

Monero to challenge a local resistance once more

On the 3-day timeframe, Monero had been opposed by the $420 resistance since November. This level was a swing high from May 2025. Recent price action saw this area flipped to support, presenting swing traders with a buying opportunity.

The impulse move from $165 to $420 earlier in the year was used to plot a set of Fibonacci extension levels. It showed that $480 and $577 were the next extension targets.

The $480 level has temporarily rejected XMR bulls, but will likely be challenged again.

The technical indicators on the 3-day timeframe remained bullish. The RSI showed strong upward momentum, and the OBV maintained its uptrend to indicate sustained buying pressure.

The possibility of a bearish reversal

While possible, it is the less likely outcome in the short-term, meaning within the next month. Bitcoin [BTC] has a chance to go towards $96k and possibly beyond $100k as part of a relief rally in the coming weeks.

Bitcoin Dominance has been falling recently to show increased altcoin gains compared to Bitcoin. Additionally, the higher timeframe trend of Monero is bullish, and it has retaken its spot as the leading privacy coin by market capitalization.
