MoonPay, a developer of payment solutions in both crypto and traditional currencies, has introduced PayBox. This new type of payment wallet allows AI assistants within Claude and ChatGPT to perform transactions. Users can manage digital assets and pay for online services directly within the chat.
Upon user request, the AI can perform actions such as: buying PYUSD, exchanging tokens, transferring assets between blockchains, depositing funds into DeFi protocols, booking flight tickets, and more. Before a transaction is executed, the user confirms it using an access key.
PayBox supports Solana and EVM-based blockchains, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo, and Robinhood Chain. MoonPay plans to add support for other networks in the future. The platform allows storage of both crypto wallets and payment cards.
The security of funds is ensured through MPC (Multi-Party Computation) technology and secure execution environments. This ensures that no single party—including MoonPay itself or the AI assistant—gains full access to the user's assets.
PayBox features two permission management modes. In "Always Ask" mode, each operation requires manual confirmation. In "Autonomous" mode, the AI can independently execute transactions within limits set by the user. All permissions can be modified or completely disabled at any time.
PayBox is built on technology from Sodot, a developer of secure crypto wallet solutions, which MoonPay acquired earlier this year. According to the company, this infrastructure is already being used to secure over $50 billion in digital assets across more than 10 million wallets.
