In a statement released on Wednesday and shared with Cointelegraph, the companies announced that Kalshi's real-time order book is now available via the dedicated DoubleZero Edge fiber optic network.

Kalshi stated it has become the first prediction market to distribute real-time order book data for sports and cryptocurrency perpetual contracts via DoubleZero Edge. New network subscribers will gain access to this data.

Users requiring a machine-readable feed of prediction market data will be able to receive it via a dedicated channel, without having to build their own infrastructure based on order books and the Application Programming Interface (API).

Access to data is a 'critical piece' of market structure. However, in new financial segments, including cryptocurrencies, perpetual contracts, and prediction markets, the corresponding infrastructure was lacking, stated DoubleZero co-founder Austin Feder. According to him, this initiative will provide industry participants with institutional-grade infrastructure.

Sports is the second-largest category for Kalshi by volume, accounting for 37.8% of the weekly notional trading volume. Cryptocurrency ranks third at 20.3%. The top spot is held by exotic events, representing 39.4% of Kalshi's weekly notional trading volume, according to Dune data.

In early July, OpenAI began displaying Kalshi prediction market odds for FIFA World Cup matches in ChatGPT search results.

Kalshi's sports contracts are at the center of a jurisdictional dispute between state regulators and the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). State authorities argue these contracts are wagers, falling under state gambling laws. The CFTC and Kalshi consider them derivatives, subject to the commission's exclusive jurisdiction.

On June 29, a judge in Michigan temporarily banned Kalshi from accepting bets on sports events from state residents. A few days earlier, Kentucky filed a lawsuit against five prediction market platforms, including Kalshi and Polymarket, accusing them of operating unlicensed sports betting platforms. Nevada also imposed a temporary ban on Kalshi's activities earlier in March.

The CFTC has also filed lawsuits against several states, asserting that contracts for federally regulated events fall under its exclusive authority.
