BitMine increased its holdings by 32,447 ETH this week, bringing its total holdings to 5.8476 million ETH, accounting for approximately 4.8% of the circulating supply. ETH has risen about 30% recently, supported by institutional holdings and staking rewards, but the rapid increase also adds short-term correction risks.

BitMine Holdings Increase to 5.8476 Million ETH

BitMine Immersion Technologies continues to expand its Ethereum reserves, adding 32,447 ETH in the past week. As of August 23, the company holds 5,847,611 ETH, accounting for approximately 4.8% of Ethereum's circulating supply, having completed about 97% of its goal to hold 5% of the total supply.

With ETH priced around $2,440, this portion of tokens is worth approximately $14.3 billion. Adding 210 BTC, $308 million in cash and tradable securities, and investments in other companies, BitMine's disclosed total asset scale is approximately $14.9 billion.

Increase in Holdings Value Primarily Due to ETH Price Rebound

A week ago, BitMine's asset value was approximately $11.4 billion, increasing by about $3.5 billion since then. The newly added ETH only explains a small part of this increase; the main reason is Ethereum's rise of about 30% over the past few days.

This indicates that the net assets of institutional reserve companies are highly sensitive to the price of ETH. An increase in ETH rapidly boosts their asset value, attracting stock investors in turn; however, if ETH declines, the net assets of these reserve companies will also shrink accordingly.

Staking Turns Reserve Assets into Cash Flow

BitMine has already staked approximately 5.07 million ETH. Based on the current price and yield estimates, the company expects staking to generate annual revenue of about $330 million. This means most of the ETH is not idle but continuously generating on-chain income.

Large-scale staking also reduces the circulating supply available for immediate sale on the market. If institutions continue to increase their holdings and lock them in staking, the contraction in supply could provide mid-term support for ETH's price.

Be Wary of Pullbacks After Rapid Gains

Synchronized with ETH's rebound, BitMine's stock price rose from below $19 to $24.68, even touching $24.82 at one point. The company's net asset value per share is approximately $23.85, while its stock price was recently around $23.71, meaning the discount has largely disappeared.

The same logic applies to ETH. Institutional buying and staking constitute positive factors, but after a 30% rise in a short period, the market has already priced in a significant portion of the optimistic expectations. If capital continues to flow in, ETH could continue advancing toward $2,500 and higher regions; if institutional accumulation slows down, the price may first retest support levels.

Investors need to simultaneously observe ETF fund flows, exchange net inflows, institutional reserve increases, and staking ratios. Institutional holdings approaching 5% of the supply is an important signal, but it does not mean the price will only rise and not fall.

Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee Announces New Bitcoin and Ethereum Price Predictions! Here are the Details

Tom Lee, Chairman of Bitmine's board of directors, has announced new price forecasts for Bitcoin and Ethereum. He stated that Ethereum is undervalued compared to Bitcoin. Lee predicted that if Bitcoin surpasses $150,000, the price of Ethereum (ETH) could reach $6,000, citing its significant growth potential. Key factors supporting Ethereum's potential rise by year-end include the possible passage of the CLARITY Act in the US, which would provide comprehensive cryptocurrency market regulations. This could facilitate institutional investor access and support asset prices. Additional positive factors are increased capital inflows from Asia and "compensatory purchases" by global institutions to improve quarterly performance. Lee noted that the ETH/BTC ratio, measuring Ethereum's performance against Bitcoin, could retest its previous level of 0.08. Even a more conservative recovery to 0.04 would represent significant upside potential for Ethereum. While acknowledging Bitcoin's long-term growth potential, Lee identified asset tokenization and AI-based finance as key trends shaping the crypto market's direction over the next five years. His analysis suggests the price performance gap between Bitcoin and Ethereum may narrow, highlighting the need to monitor institutional capital flows into Ethereum. He emphasized this scenario depends on Bitcoin exceeding the $150,000 threshold and Ethereum benefiting from the anticipated capital inflows. *This is not investment advice.
