Криптомошенники стали выдавать себя за ReportCyber, австралийский государственный сервис оповещения о киберпреступлениях, сообщили Федеральная полиция Австралии (AFP) и Объединенный координационный центр по борьбе с киберпреступностью (JPC3).

По данным правоохранителей, в попытках похитить чужие активы злоумышленники используют украденные личные данные возможных жертв: адреса электронной почты и номера телефонов. Аферисты выдают себя за сотрудников правоохранительных органов, расследующих дела о киберпреступлениях.

Детектив AFP Мари Андерссон (Marie Andersson) рассказала о задокументированном случае, когда жертве позвонил человек, представившийся сотрудником ReportCyber. Звонивший сообщил, что ведомство задержало подозреваемого, и что жертва замешана в утечке данных, связанной с криптовалютой.

В другом случае мошенник звонил с номера, похожего на номер ReportCyber. Собеседнику было предложено зайти на поддельный портал ReportCyber и для подтверждения сообщения ввести свой адрес электронной почты. Мошенники пытались убедить человека как можно быстрее перейти по фишинговой ссылке, чтобы тот оставил там свои данные и впоследствии лишился криптоактивов, предупредила Андерссон.

Детектив рассказала еще об одном инциденте, когда звонивший выдавал себя за представителя некой криптовалютной платформы, убеждая потенциальную жертву перевести средства из кошелька настоящей платформы на поддельный кошелек холодного хранения. К счастью, собеседник заподозрил неладное и бросил трубку, сохранив свои цифровые активы.

В AFP уверяют, что сотрудники правоохранительных органов никогда не будут запрашивать доступ к криптовалютным кошелькам, торговым платформам и банковским счетам, а также спрашивать сид-фразу.

Министерство финансов Австралии предложило ужесточить денежный штраф для криптовалютных бирж и других поставщиков услуг виртуальных активов (VASP), работающих в стране нелегально. В октябре министр внутренних дел Австралии Тони Бёрк (Tony Burke) выступил за полный запрет высокорисковых продуктов и услуг, включая криптоматы.

This aligns with industry-wide efforts from companies like Nvidia (through model compression) and memory makers like Samsung and SK hynix (developing new packaging and storage technologies) to reduce dependency on scarce HBM.
