In a closely contested race, Poland has elected a new president who is openly pro-crypto and backed by the Trump administration.

Karol Nawrocki , a conservative historian and vocal Bitcoin (BTC) supporter, won the presidency with 50.9% of the vote, edging out Warsaw mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.

Poland Elects Pro-Crypto President

Nawrocki’s campaign mainly focused on economic freedom and innovation.

Throughout his campaign, he repeatedly emphasized individuals’ right to invest freely and criticized what he called “oppressive regulations” on digital assets.

“More and more people and companies are investing in cryptocurrencies,” Nawrocki said earlier this year. “Poland must be a place where innovations are created, not regulations.”

“As President of the Republic of Poland, I will ensure that oppressive regulations limiting your freedom do not come into force,” he added.

His stance puts Poland in rare company among major economies, where few sitting or incoming heads of state have openly embraced Bitcoin or crypto as part of their national vision.

Nawrocki’s win marks a notable moment for the intersection of politics and crypto, as more candidates worldwide begin embracing crypto in their platforms.

Trump’s Man in Warsaw

Nawrocki’s campaign also enjoyed a boost from across the Atlantic.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem publicly encouraged Polish voters to back him, citing his alignment with Donald Trump and shared values on sovereignty, economic independence, and digital freedom.

Last month, Nawrocki met with Trump allies at the White House, signaling his intent to align Poland with the second Trump administration and deepen transatlantic ties rooted in shared crypto policy goals.

The Political Rise of Crypto

Just a few years ago, cryptocurrency was treated as taboo in mainstream politics, often ignored or actively targeted by regulators.

That has since changed. Trump’s return to the White House with a pro-crypto agenda has legitimized the conversation. Other global leaders are following suit.

In South Korea, presidential candidates are proposing sweeping crypto reforms.

In the U.K., crypto regulation is becoming a defining issue in upcoming elections.

Now, with Nawrocki’s win, Poland joins a small but growing group of nations led by openly pro-Bitcoin politicians.
