Bitcoin began as peer-to-peer electronic cash, but the market gave it a different job. Over the past decade, Bitcoin has become crypto’s benchmark investment asset: something to accumulate, custody, borrow against, and measure against. Stablecoins, meanwhile, became the industry’s practical payment rail.

That split made sense. Bitcoin’s volatility, confirmation times, and tax complexity made it awkward for everyday spending, while stablecoins offered the thing merchants and users actually needed: a familiar unit of account that could move quickly across digital rails. Bitcoin became the asset people did not want to spend. Stablecoins became the money they could.

The gap is becoming more visible as stablecoins move deeper into mainstream payment infrastructure. Visa said its stablecoin settlement pilot now supports nine blockchains and had reached a $7 billion annualized settlement run rate as of March 2026. That does not mean stablecoins have solved every payments problem, but it does show which part of crypto is being absorbed most quickly into commercial finance.

Bitcoin is now facing the opposite question. It does not need to prove that it can be held. It needs to prove that it can move in ways that create useful economic activity. More specifically, it raises a question for the companies that secure the network: can miners evolve from passive validators into active participants in Bitcoin’s payment economy?

For most of Bitcoin’s history, miners have had a narrow but essential role: secure the network, validate transactions, and earn block rewards plus transaction fees. Yet block rewards decline with each halving, which means Bitcoin’s long-term economics increasingly depend on whether transaction activity can become a more meaningful source of revenue. That transition is still far from complete.

Every push higher from here requires fresh buyers willing to pay increasingly expensive prices. In a Fear-dominated market, that pool of buyers thins quickly.

The daily MACD, price levels, EMA readings, Bollinger Bands, ATR, and pivot points do not carry usable numerical values in the current dataset. The RSI at 77.27 therefore stands as the clearest signal the daily chart is offering. When a daily RSI pushes toward 80 without a clear fundamental catalyst, the probability of mean reversion rises meaningfully. Traders who bought the move have profit to protect. Those eyeing fresh longs here face an unfavorable risk/reward setup on the higher timeframe.

Short-term price surges are usually followed by some short-term retracement, especially during periods of elevated uncertainty. So far, market sentiment has not improved to support more upside.

Nevertheless, other market factors do come into play when determining the next potential outcome. For example, the level of activity in the derivatives market compared to the spot market.

In Shiba Inu Crypto's case, the recent rally was backed by robust spot positioning. CryptoQuant revealed that the rally was supported by healthy accumulation, judging by the surge in active addresses over the last few days.

There were about 1,630 active addresses on 19 July, but that number has since surged to over 3,150 addresses as of 25 July. Almost double within a few days.

The derivatives segment also demonstrated significant interest among traders. For example, SHIB open interest surged from around $30 million on 20 July to about $48 million at press time.

A relatively modest gain, but derivatives volumes lagged on Saturday, confirming that spot activity was prominent. However, the last 24 hours saw a 2,000% plus surge in derivatives, accompanied by a spike in negative funding rates.

The surge in negative funding rates suggests that derivatives traders anticipated a retracement. However, the spot accumulation could also indicate that traders might be positioning for more recovery
