Bitcoin Price Outlook as US Dollar Index Hits 4-Year Low, Gold Soars

Bitcoin price remained under pressure as gold jumped to a record high.

It wavered as the US Dollar Index (DXY) plunged to the lowest level in years.

Technical analysis suggests that the BTC price has more downside to go.

Bitcoin price was stuck in a narrow range today, January 27. It was trading at $88,000, down by 10% from its highest point this year. It has underperformed gold, which has pumped to a record high. The US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback against a basket of currencies, tumbled to the lowest level in four years. It has plunged against all major currencies like the euro, sterling, British pound, and the New Zealand dollar.

The dollar plunged as Polymarket data showed that odds of a government shutdown rose to 80% today. This shutdown is being triggered by the ongoing crisis on ICE and Border patrol. Democrats have insisted that they will only provide votes to fund the government if it is accompanied by reforms.

The dollar index has also plunged because of the ongoing surge in public debt. Data shows that the debt has surged to over $38 trillion, and the deficit means that it will keep rising by over $2 trillion a year. In a recent statement, JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon warned that the situation was not sustainable.

These events have led to the ongoing gold price surge, which has pushed it past $5,000. Central banks and companies like Tether have continued buying gold, while the popular GLD and IAU ETFs have accumulated gold assets worth billions of dollars in the past few months.

In a recent interview, Tom Lee believes that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are underperforming because investors have turned to the booming gold, silver.

Sam Bankman-Fried Denies FTX Insolvency

Bankman-Fried began by disputing the allegation that FTX was insolvent and that $8 billion in customer funds vanished. He contrasted statements made by prosecutors to jurors with representations made by bankruptcy debtors to the court, and that his claim of solvency was false and that he had lost billions in customer money.

Media reports, he said, reinforced the message that the funds were gone. In his version of events, however, FTX was solvent and is now repaying customers between 119% and 143% of their claims.

Bankman-Fried also rejected persistent rumors about a lavish corporate culture. Addressing allegations of “polycule orgies,” Bankman-Fried flatly denied that such conduct took place.

He insisted he did not party or take vacations, noting that while FTX owned a penthouse, he personally rented only 10% of it for six months for $50,000. He maintained that his personal spending and political donations were funded from his earnings and were less than those earnings.

On the events leading to FTX’s bankruptcy, Bankman-Fried pushed back against the narrative that he filed because he could not meet surging withdrawal demands. According to him, there were offers to cover the liquidity shortfall and stabilize the platform.

He claimed that within three days, financing proposals were on the table and withdrawals had begun to resume, but that lawyers nonetheless proceeded with the bankruptcy filing.

Kite [KITE] rallied in phases rather than a single spike. Price first respected a rising trendline near $0.16, forming higher lows toward $0.21. This base‑building period established stability before momentum expanded.

Bulls then pushed the price through the $0.24–$0.25 resistance zone, triggering a sharp advance toward $0.265–$0.268. The recent high near $0.2706 now acts as immediate resistance.





 Simultaneously, the RSI surged to approximately 70.6, at press time, demonstrating robust momentum and a hint of short-term strain.

If the price weakens, the Fibonacci retracement levels provide downside markers. The 50% level stands at $0.1995, while the 61.8% level sits at $0.1808.

A deeper correction would expose $0.1200. For now, structure remains bullish as long as KITE

Two main explanations might be offered for such a shift: either holders of higher costs within the cohort had exited positions thus pulling the average low through disposal or new positions were set up at reduced price levels comparatively thus diluting the overall cost basis.

Cross-referencing with pertinent related indicators helps to elucidate the driver. In the period that the realized price fell, the total balance held by these addresses increased substantially, while their aggregate realized capitalization was steadily growing. This combination represents net inflows in lower entry points instead of net reductions from sales.
