In a post on X, IOG said the effort is led by Michael Karg and covers “Rigorous Testing/QA and Performance tuning,” “Bug fixes & security patches,” and “Node, network and community support.” The message was deliberately blunt: “Everything on Cardano depends on this.”

Why This Proposal Is Crucial For Cardano
The proposal, published on the Momentum Cardano site, frames maintenance as the baseline condition for the rest of the ecosystem. It describes the initiative as “core platform maintenance, support, and operational infrastructure for the Cardano network,” with a scope that runs from Q3 2026 through Q1 2027. The proposal’s treasury ask is ₳62,134,630.

The central argument is not that maintenance is a new feature, but that it is the layer that makes feature delivery possible. The proposal states: “Every proposal in this portfolio depends on one thing: a stable, reliable, operational Cardano network. Maintenance is the foundation everything else is built on.” It adds that Cardano “powers billions of dollars in value and thousands of applications across a global user base,” making continued codebase upkeep, security work and predictable releases a matter of operational stewardship rather than optional spending.

About 23,000 Bitcoin options contracts worth $1.74 billion are set to expire today on Deribit. The put-call ratio stands at 1.10, showing more bearish bets than bullish ones. Bitcoin’s max pain price is $76,000. The asset traded near $77,200 at press time, keeping it slightly above the level where most options expire worthless.Deribit flagged the settlement as one to watch. Its data showed a 95% probability that Bitcoin options expire above $76,000. Heavy volume sat at the $75,500 and $77,000 strike prices. 

In the past 24 hours, Bitcoin’s trading put-call ratio rose to 0.73. At the same time, total volume declined after the Federal Reserve held interest rates unchanged.

Ethereum ETFs Extend Four-Day Outflow Streak
Ethereum faced similar pressure before expiry. More than 175,000 ETH options worth $400 million expire on Deribit today, with a put-call ratio of 0.95. In the past 24 hours, ETH's volume has moved above call volume. That shift pushed the ratio to 1.17, showing traders adjusted toward possible downside.

Ethereum traded near $2,284 at the time of writing. That placed it below its max pain price of $2,325, while its 24-hour range ran from $2,232 to $2,293. Trading volume fell 45% over the past day. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs extended their losing streak to four days, losing nearly $184 million by Thursday.

Bitcoin is trading below a key cost threshold that short-term holders paid to acquire it — a sign that many recent buyers are sitting on losses heading into one of the largest options expiry events of the month.

Bitcoin: Bears Hold The Edge Going Into Expiry

Glassnode data shows Bitcoin is currently priced under the Short-Term Holder Cost Basis of $78,900, and also below the True Market Mean of $78,000.

Support is seen further down, in the $65,000–$70,000 range. That backdrop sets a cautious tone as roughly 23,000 Bitcoin options contracts — worth $1.74 billion — are set to expire today on derivatives exchange Deribit.

The put-call ratio for those contracts sits at 1.10, meaning more traders are betting on price declines than on gains.

Bitcoin’s max pain price — the level where the greatest number of options expire worthless — is $76,000, slightly below where it was trading at press time around $77,200.

Pantera Capital, a major investor in $ONDO, returned after three months of dormancy and moved assets to exchanges. Arkham data showed that Pantera Capital’s wallet moved 83.9 million $ONDO tokens worth $22.11 million.

Previously, the address received 34.28 million $ONDO, worth $42.52 million, from Ondo’s project party multisig address.

After receiving these tokens, they were then transferred to Coinbase Prime in batches. This suggests the transfer is likely in preparation for a sale.

Traditionally, selling from major market players has preceded asset price weakness. Thus, if these tokens are sold, as the previous pattern suggests, it will likely further weaken $ONDO’s price action.
