Bitcoin Is Down Bad, But Hasn't Yet Hit Its 'Ultimate Bear Market Bottom': Analysts

Despite its 45% fall since its October peak, Bitcoin has not yet found its bear market bottom, according to a new report from CryptoQuant.

Bitcoin traders hoping that the top crypto asset has already marked its bottom for the cycle are likely to be disappointed, according to a new report from CryptoQuant. 

The firm’s weekly report insists traders need patience, noting that bear market bottoms “take time to form,” while citing the true bottom for BTC is $55,000. 

“Bitcoin’s ultimate bear market bottom is around $55K today,” the report reads. “This level represents the realized price, which historically has been a major price support area in previous bear markets.”

The realized price—a metric that tracks the average price at which investors have purchased a specific cryptocurrency—has been touched during both of the last two bear market bottoms, according to data from the firm. 

“Once the price gets to this level, it tends to gravitate around it for 4-6 months,” the firm wrote. 

The firm’s report also notes that its bull-bear market cycle indicator is only in the “bear” phase, and has not entered the “extreme bear” segment that has typically marked the beginning of a bottom phase.

CryptoQuant’s analysis mirrors that from others in the last few weeks. Galaxy’s head of research noted the asset’s lack of near-term catalysts and structural weakness as reasons it could head towards its 200-week moving average around $58,000.

Price failed to hold above 0.618 (182.29) and 0.5 (160.31), then lost the critical 0.382 (138.32) and 0.236 (111.11) levels, triggering an accelerated selloff into the lower demand region.

SOL is now stabilizing near 85–90, just above the macro base.

The Ethereum price has regained $2,922 today, having dropped as low as $2,800 on Sunday after a difficult weekend for the cryptocurrency market.

Despite its modest gain, ETH remains down by 6% in a week and by 7% in a fortnight, with the market’s biggest altcoin also posting a 4% decline in a year.

However, its fundamental position remains enviably strong, with prominent ‘long-term investor’ Jelle stating that he expects it to “outperform” once Bitcoin initiates a market-wide rebound.

And with Ethereum remaining the biggest layer-one network in crypto, the long-term Ethereum price prediction continues to look hugely positive for 2026.

Everstake, a crypto staking provider, said in a new report that 2025 was a “year of sharp contrasts” for Ethereum, filled with major network upgrades and rising institutional adoption even as the price of ETH remained relatively flat.


In its Ethereum Staking Insights & Protocol Analysis report, Everstake said total value staked reached about 36.08 million ETH, or roughly 29.3% of supply, with net growth of more than 1.8 million ETH. As of Tuesday, Jan. 27, about 36.5 million ETH is staked – roughly 30.26% of supply, according to Coinbase data.


The report also highlighted continued growth in network activity, with Ethereum Layer 1 (L1) transactions rising about 30% over the year to around 1.5-1.6 million per day, while Layer 2 throughput surpassed roughly 300-330 transactions per second (TPS).


The findings underscore that Ethereum has continued to scale and attract larger players despite ETH’s underperformance. Currently, Ethereum’s total value locked (TVL) stands at nearly $72 billion, while Ether is changing hands at $2,930, up 4% on the day, but down 10% over the year.


Everstake said the Layer 1 is increasingly being used as a settlement layer, while most day-to-day activity has shifted to Layer 2. The findings pointed to protocol upgrades, including Pectra, which introduced EIP-7251 to raise the maximum effective validator balance from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH, allowing large stakers to consolidate validators.
