Ripple has joined forces with Clearpool and Cicada Partners to bring real-world credit to the $XRP Ledger (XRPL), according to an Aug. 20 statement.

The companies aim to create an an onchain lending model for institutional investors backed by Clearpool’s lending infrastructure, Cicada’s credit underwriting, and Ripple’s investment capital.

The effort comes as the partners argue that most DeFi yield is still generated by crypto market activity rather than productive lending. They estimate that roughly 98% of yield comes from mechanisms including looping, arbitrage, basis trades, points and liquidity mining. That has left institutional allocators without a clear path into onchain credit, even as stablecoin activity and tokenized private credit continue to grow.

As the initiative’s infrastructure provider, Clearpool will build an institutional credit layer on XRPL through its native Lending Protocol and Single Asset Vault architecture.

The platform has facilitated more than $930 million in institutional loans since 2021. Its curator-driven structure will allow independent risk managers to operate separate credit markets while maintaining defined risk parameters.

Cicada Partners, with more than $860 million in credit underwriting experience, will originate and service loans, set borrower covenants and monitor credit health.

Ripple will participate as an LP in the credit fund alongside other institutional investors, with no special backstop role. The capital will be directed to businesses including fintechs,

Dogecoin Cofounder Breaks Silence on Crypto Rally: Ask 2 Questions
The crypto market suddenly sprang back to life, sending Bitcoin and the majority of crypto assets, including Dogecoin, higher.
At the time of writing, Dogecoin was trading up 10% at $0.0771, extending yesterday's surge from a low of $0.069. The dog-themed coin briefly touched an intraday high of $0.078 early Thursday before retreating slightly.
In his characteristic manner, Dogecoin cofounder Billy Markus, who goes by Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X, commented on the crypto market surge in a social media post.
Markus shared a screenshot that showed the surge, with most assets in the green, and asked two questions that had several question marks interspersed with exclamation marks: "is crypto back? is the 2026 nightmare over?" The question "is the 2026 nightmare over?" highlights the uncertainty in the crypto market following a difficult period in 2026.
Cryptocurrencies had seen months of selling since last October when a major flash crash liquidated a record $19 billion in the market.
Is crypto back?
Markus's screenshot showed the rise of various assets including BTC, S&P 500, Ethereum, Solana, and Dogecoin. Notably, the mentioned crypto assets outperformed the S&P 500, which was only up 0.21% in the timeframe according to the screenshot.
In the financial markets, traders are digesting the latest Federal Open Market Committee minutes from July, released Wednesday, which seemed to offer less help to the bulls. Most officials backed keeping rates unchanged at the Fed's July meeting, but several favored a hike.
This might have somewhat contributed to the minor gains in the S&P 500, with cryptocurrencies outperforming. This background might have prompted the Dogecoin cofounder to ask whether crypto was back.

August is already shaping up as a record-setting month for dormant bitcoin spends. It opened with the Coldcard incident, where nearly 2,000 $BTC were stolen from hardware wallets running faulty firmware. The latest wave of sleeping bitcoin, however, is not associated with the stolen funds but likely instead reflects old-school holders quietly moving coins to safer destinations. The blockchain exposes every movement, but never reveals the motive behind it.As bitcoin prices climbed over the last 24 hours, btcparser.com data shows 28 long-dormant wallets suddenly stirred between Aug. 19 and 20 after years of silence. The wallets shifted a total of 1,314.41 $BTC worth $94.03 million to fresh addresses, with a staggering 92.4% of the bitcoin coming from addresses first created in 2014. Even more striking, 21 of the 28 spends moved in neat 50 $BTC chunks from 2014 wallets created in November or December of that year.

The owner moved the coins out of legacy P2PKH (Pay-to-Public-Key-Hash) wallets and consolidated them into newer P2WPKH (Pay-to-Witness-Public-Key-Hash) addresses. Several transfers landed in the same blocks, including block height 963203, suggesting the movements were coordinated rather than random. The destination addresses carry no flags from explorers such as Arkham Intelligence and, at least for now, show no obvious signs of heading toward an exchange.

Blockchair.com’s privacy tool rated several of the 21 consolidated 50 $BTC transfers “low,” scoring them just 22 out of 100 across roughly four privacy issues, including repeated appearances of the same address among the inputs. But this likely single 2014 whale was hardly alone, as other wallets from the 2014 cohort also suddenly woke up after more than a decade in the shadows.

We all know that some coins follow BTC ,like DOGE - everytime BTC goes up /down DOGE follows. In similar way we have coins that follow ZEC. I have noticed that ZEN and DASH always move in nearly identical way as ZEC Take a look t their charts and tell me they don't look very similar, they all move in the same direction. Certainly they all have their differences but the highs and lows are always coming together 🤷‍♀️
