Franklin Templeton and Hashkey roll out U.S. tokenized money fund in Asia
Hong Kong regulated crypto exchange Hashkey has teamed up with financial giant Franklin Templeton to distribute its flagship tokenized money market fund, Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (grBENJI), to digital asset investors in Asia.

The move reflects growing institutional demand for yield-generating instruments backed by real-world assets on regulated digital platforms. Tokenized U.S. Treasury and money market funds have grown 1,500% to $15 billion in the last two years, according to data source rwa.xyz

GrBENJI is designed to provide professional investors with access to a tokenized fund investing mainly in U.S. government money market products and U.S. dollar cash assets on the blockchain, Hashkey said in a statement released on Monday.

Franklin Templeton manages $1.8 trillion in assets globally across more than 35 countries. The fund uses blockchain infrastructure to provide investors with exposure to traditional money market instruments through a tokenized wrapper, or a blockchain-based token that represents a claim on the underlying asset.

The listing is the latest in a series of real-world asset partnerships for HashKey, which holds Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission, permitting it to trade securities on clients' behalf and to run an automated trading service.

Hong Kong’s largest exchange last week announced it would kick off cross-border trade stablecoin transactions with the UAE and the wider Middle East region using one of the two regulated Hong Kong digital dollars, HKDAP.

Both companies said they plan to expand beyond money market funds into other tokenized products over time.

IRGC-linked wallets received more than $3 billion during the year and accounted for over half of Iranian crypto inflows in the fourth quarter, though the estimates cover only wallets publicly tied to sanctions listings.

Crypto was one of five sectors named under Operation Economic Outcast, which Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described as an economic “D–Day.” Technology, gold, aviation and shipping were the other included sectors.

The change does not automatically blacklist every Iranian crypto company or prohibit all activity involving the country’s digital asset industry. Instead, it gives OFAC a standing basis for future designations, widening a campaign that had previously focused on named exchanges, wallets and individuals.

Bitcoin is trading above the $80,000 level, with $83,000 emerging as a critical resistance point for the market. Julio Moreno, Head of Research at CryptoQuant, noted that the 365-day moving average on Bitcoin’s daily chart represents a significant resistance level, potentially acting as the “last boss” in the current uptrend.

According to Moreno’s assessment, Bitcoin surpassing this moving average could pave the way for the cryptocurrency to advance to higher levels. The analyst stated that the 365-day moving average is around $83,000. Therefore, investors are expected to closely monitor Bitcoin’s price movements in this region in the short term.

According to the data, Bitcoin was trading at $80,868 at the time of writing. The cryptocurrency had gained 2.38 percent compared to the previous day. Thus, Bitcoin is approximately $2,100 away from the critical resistance level of $83,000.

In technical analysis, moving averages are used to assess the overall market trend by showing the average price of an asset over specific periods. The 365-day moving average is among the important indicators that long-term investors and analysts follow to examine the trend of Bitcoin.

It is believed that if Bitcoin breaks through the $83,000 resistance level, the market could maintain its upward momentum; however, failure to surpass this level could lead to short-term profit-taking or consolidation. Following the recent rapid rise, it is particularly important for investors to closely monitor changes in technical indicators.

Moreno’s statement suggests that Bitcoin is approaching a critical threshold in its current upward movement, with the $83,000 level emerging as a decisive area for the market’s short-term direction.

After several Bitcoin sales over the previous two months, Michael Saylor’s Strategy made no Bitcoin purchases or sales last week.

Instead, the largest Bitcoin DAT sold 18,261,118 MSTR shares through its ATM program between the 17th and 23rd of August. The sales generated $2.0065 billion in net proceeds.

According to the recent 8-K filing, about $136.4 million went toward repurchasing Strategy's STRC preferred stock. Another $300 million was added to its existing USD reserve, bringing that reserve to approximately $5.1 billion.
The remaining proceeds increased its newly established USD Cash account, which held $1.59 billion as of the 23rd of August. The reported balances included expected ATM proceeds that had not yet settled.
So, this time, Strategy raised liquidity by selling MSTR shares rather than using the proceeds to purchase more Bitcoin [BTC]. This, in no sense, means that Strategy has abandoned its Bitcoin
strategy.
Saylor's firm remains the largest Bitcoin DAT, which holds 840,447 BTC, worth roughly
$67.82 billion.

Strategy raised $2.0065 billion through MSTR share sales and established a USD Cash account holding $1.59 billion.
Despite these changes, Strategy remains the largest Bitcoin DAT.
