Grayscale Investments is tying bitcoin's lag behind equities to a repricing of Federal Reserve policy, arguing that bitcoin could narrow the performance gap with stocks if the Fed holds off on rate hikes. In a June 22 research note, the crypto asset manager said changing rate expectations have contributed to the divergence between equities, bitcoin, and gold.

A group of crypto lobbying organizations has urged Congress to pass a bill on crypto staking and mining taxes without changes, saying it would provide clarity on crypto rewards taxes and ensure blockchains “can be secured by Americans in America.”

The Blockchain Association, the Crypto Council for Innovation and The Digital Chamber said in a letter on Sunday to House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith and its top Democrat, Richard Neal, that the Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act should be passed “as introduced.”

“After years of uncertainty about how mining and staking rewards are taxed, the bill provides a durable compromise that innovators can support while addressing concerns raised by some lawmakers,” the group wrote.

The bill seeks to address what the crypto industry has long said is an unfair tax code that views mining and staking rewards as taxable income when received, which the letter argued is a “taxation of phantom income” that can cause liquidity issues.

The bill would allow miners and stakers the choice of paying taxes on crypto rewards either when they receive them or when they sell the assets, which the lobbyists wrote “ensures income is recognized while avoiding immediate taxation before taxpayers can monetize the asset.”

It was introduced earlier this month ahead of a legislative hearing, but has not advanced past the Ways and Means Committee. Democratic Representative Steven Horsford filed an amendment to limit the deferral of crypto reward taxes to five years.

Crypto Council for Innovation CEO Ji Hun Kim posted to X on Monday that Horsford’s amendment would “break” the bill and raise “negligible revenue.”

According to on-chain analyst ai_9684xtpa, the receiving address has been a regular recipient of large ONDO transfers on a monthly basis. Since April 22, the address has accumulated a total of 425 million ONDO, valued at around $147 million at current market prices. The analyst noted that funds from two previous large transfers were subsequently deposited to Coinbase in multiple transactions, suggesting a pattern of eventual exchange deposits.

Uncertainty Surrounding Latest Transfer

While the purpose of this latest transfer remains unconfirmed, the historical pattern of subsequent deposits to Coinbase has led to speculation that the team may be preparing to sell a portion of its holdings. The analyst emphasized that the destination and intent of the funds have not been verified, and the transfer could serve other purposes such as treasury management or operational funding.

Market Implications for ONDO

Large transfers from project team wallets often attract market attention, as they can precede sell-offs that pressure token prices. However, such movements can also be part of routine treasury operations or strategic allocations. The ONDO token has experienced volatility in recent months, and this latest development adds another layer of uncertainty for traders and investors monitoring on-chain activity.

Fresh wallet inflows of $559,000 point to new buyers stepping in. Since smart money is already long, the funding pays the bulls to keep holding, reinforcing the tilt.

TRUMP Positioning Overview: Nansen Data

The chart, however, tells a different story. TRUMP, the Solana-specific meme coin, has traded inside a falling channel since mid-March, a steadily lower price range.

It tried to break $2.20 on June 13 and failed. Volume spiked into that attempt, then faded, leaving no sustained buyers. The same burst-and-fade is repeating now. So the bullish positioning clashes with a bearish structure, a classic sentiment trap.
