Imagine checking your portfolio and seeing Bitcoin priced at two cents. Not two thousand. Not two hundred. Two pennies. That’s what some Revolut users say they experienced on Friday, in what appears to be one of the more spectacular display glitches in recent crypto app history.

The price snapped back to normal levels almost immediately, and no major exchange tracked by CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap showed any corresponding anomaly. Bitcoin was trading just above $79,000 during Asian afternoon hours on Friday. The incident appeared entirely isolated to Revolut’s platform.

Revolut’s official Bitcoin page showed BTC briefly marked around £29,414 on its one-day chart before returning near £58,600. That alone would have been a jarring drop. But social media posts from users painted an even wilder picture, with some claiming they saw prices as low as $0.02.

CoinDesk reported it could not independently verify those near-zero prints or confirm whether any trades were actually executed at those levels. Revolut had not responded to CoinDesk’s request for comment by the time that report was published.

Some users on X claimed buy orders executed during the disruption. Those reports also remain unconfirmed. If trades were indeed filled at those levels, Revolut would face the unenviable task of determining whether the prints reflected legitimate liquidity, stale quotes, a routing issue, or a straight-up pricing error on the platform’s side.

Here’s the thing. The day before the incident, Bitcoin was trading at around $81,022. So even the “less extreme” dip to £29,414 visible on Revolut’s chart represented a massive disconnect from reality. The $0.02 figure, if accurate, would be the kind of number that makes risk managers lose sleep for weeks.

Onchain data showed transfers from cryptocurrency wallets known to be in the possession of the US government.

Accordingly, the US government 

deposited three altcoins, Uniswap ($UNI), Cronos ($CRO), and Chainlink ($LINK), which were seized, into Coinbase.

According to onchain analyst Onchain Lens, a US government-controlled wallet deposited 2,466 $UNI (worth $8,410), 152,925 $CRO (worth $10,689), and 1,589 $LINK (worth $15,703) into Coinbase Prime approximately six hours ago.

The assets were seized from Brian Krewson, who was serving a prison sentence for aiding money laundering related to drug offenses.

According to data provided by Arkham Intelligence, the US government wallet contains cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDT, WBTC, ZEC, BNB, and DAI.

VanEck Breaks Down Bitcoin’s Path to $1 Million in 5 Years

Bitcoin is on a structural path to reach $1 million per coin within the next five years, according to Matthew Sigel, VanEck’s head of digital assets research.

Speaking on CNBC’s “Halftime Report,” Sigel characterized the asset’s ascent as a “base case” driven by shifting demographic trends and its emerging role as a legitimate central bank reserve asset.

Despite Bitcoin and Ethereum trading down year-to-date, Sigel maintains a “constructive” view of the current price action, describing it as a short-covering rally rather than a derivative-fueled bubble. The executive noted that Bitcoin’s correlation with the Nasdaq has reached a five-year high, suggesting that recent gains are largely macro-driven.

“There’s no bailouts in Bitcoin,” Sigel cautioned, emphasizing that while the $1 million “mega-trend” is possible by 2031, investors should expect significant cyclical volatility along the way.

Sigel’s bullishness extends to the convergence of artificial intelligence and Bitcoin mining, highlighting firms like Hut 8 that are pivoting to AI infrastructure. This cycle is a core focus for VanEck’s digital asset strategies, which aim to smooth out the asset’s inherent price swings.

The $1 million forecast joins a growing sentiment of hyper-bullish institutional predictions. Ark Invest founder Cathie Wood recently reaffirmed her conviction in the apex cryptocurrency while lowering her 2030 price target to $1.2 million, down from an earlier $1.5 million.

Wood cited the rapid adoption of dollar-pegged stablecoins in emerging markets as having “usurped” some of Bitcoin’s intended utility. However, the founder is still optimistic, noting that institutional adoption and gold’s performance serve as leading indicators of the next major bull run.
