Equity markets boom – What it means for Bitcoin’s next move

The rotation into risk assets is unfolding at uneven momentum across markets.

In crypto, Bitcoin [$BTC] has rallied 17% in Q2. However, the price structure still reflects consolidation rather than expansion.

From a technical view, $BTC remains 35% below its $126k peak, with persistent resistance in the $80k-$85k range preventing a transition into price discovery despite improving broader risk sentiment.

In contrast, U.S. equities are demonstrating stronger capital absorption. From a technical standpoint, the NASDAQ index has gained over 22% so far in Q2, while the S&P 500 reached a record high of 7,400 on the 8th of May.

This divergence is largely liquidity-driven, as more than $10 trillion has flowed into U.S. equities within roughly a month, reinforcing sustained upside momentum.

Within this context, the view that equity markets are influencing Bitcoin flows gains credibility.

Notably, capital flow data across the crypto market reinforces this dynamic. Over the same monthly period, approximately $300 billion entered digital assets, lifting the TOTAL market capitalization above $2.6 trillion.

While notable, this influx remains modest relative to equity market inflows, suggesting that liquidity dominance currently favors traditional risk assets.

Naturally, the key question emerges: Is Bitcoin’s breakout above the $85k resistance level on hold?

MoonPay says stablecoin regulation opened the door but infrastructure must follow

Executives from MoonPay, Ripple, and Paxos said at Consensus Miami 2026 that stablecoin regulation has accelerated institutional adoption but that major infrastructure and privacy gaps still block mainstream use.

Top executives at three of the most active stablecoin companies told the Consensus Miami 2026 audience on May 8 that new US regulation has fundamentally changed the competitive landscape for dollar-pegged tokens, bringing traditional financial institutions into a market that was previously difficult for them to enter. The shift, however, has exposed a new set of problems the industry has yet to solve.

Richard Harrison, MoonPay’s vice president of banking and payment partnerships, said the passage of the $GENIUS Act gave firms across traditional finance a regulatory framework to operate within. “What $GENIUS brought us was clarity,” Harrison told the panel, noting that traditional finance firms are now entering stablecoins at a faster pace because compliance is easier to evaluate.

Harrison compared the current state of stablecoin adoption to electric vehicles: the core product works, but mass-market take-up depends entirely on the supporting infrastructure. “How do you use stablecoin to pay your rent?” he said. “How do you use it to buy a cup of coffee?”

Institutional demand versus real-world usability

Jack McDonald, Ripple’s senior vice president for stablecoins, told the panel that institutional clients are focused less on market capitalisation and more on practical details: regulatory compliance, custody security, and whether stablecoins can do something useful beyond trading.

McDonald said Ripple continues to concentrate on treasury operations, collateral management, and cross-border payment settlement as the primary enterprise use cases, arguing that utility must drive adoption rather than speculative interest.

This move also signals something larger happening in finance:
Bitcoin is evolving from a speculative asset into a real financial instrument integrated with traditional banking products.
Instead of asking, “When will crypto replace banks?”
The real question may become: “How quickly will banks integrate crypto?”

Established memecoins have remained relatively calm lately, with activity across whales and retail falling below expectations. For instance – CryptoQuant’s Spot Average Order size data for DOGE highlighted a lack of both whale and retail activity across the market. 



Spot activity has remained neutral too, with participants largely stepping back from the market.

Despite weakness on the demand side though, DOGE has exhibited some relative strength. Since reclaiming the $0.1-level, DOGE has held firmly above this level and extended its reach to above $0.11. At press time, Dogecoin [DOGE] was trading at $0.1107, up 3.5% on the daily charts. 

Thanks to this upside, the memecoin effectively flipped the 100-day EMA, validating the uptrend’s strength.

How is demand recovering across the market?

Now, although memecoins like Dogecoin have recorded a fall in market activity recently, DOGE buyers have slowly and sustainably returned across the board.
