Sentiment around Bitcoin’s near-term price direction has picked up as momentum builds behind the US CLARITY Act, which aims to provide the crypto industry with greater regulatory clarity, according to crypto sentiment platform Santiment.

“Bitcoin has seen a major spike of euphoria across social media following news that the Senate Banking Committee advanced the CLARITY Act in a 15–9 bipartisan vote,” Santiment said in an X post on Friday.

“This brings $BTC and crypto one step closer to being ultimately passed,” Santiment said.

Bitcoin often sees increased optimism around major industry and macro catalysts, and the US CLARITY Act has attracted significant speculation since its introduction in July 2025 about what its potential passage could mean for the broader crypto industry.

In a Thursday session of the US Senate Banking Committee, all 13 Republican members and two Democrats voted to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY), with nine Democrats also voting no on the bill.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin ($BTC) is trading at $79,084 at the time of publication, up 3.15% since May 1, according to CoinMarketCap.

Santiment reported that there are currently 1.55 bullish comments on Bitcoin for every bearish comment, suggesting this sentiment skew may be flashing warning signs. “We advise caution. Markets typically move opposite to the crowd’s expectations at all times,” Santiment said.

However, crypto analysts are staying optimistic that the trend will continue. MN Trading Capital founder Michael van de Poppe said in an X post on Friday that the legislation is “the biggest, and historical, bill for the entire industry and can be a strong trigger for the upcoming bull market.”

The story behind the recovery is as unusual as the outcome. While a student, @cprkrn changed the password on a Bitcoin wallet while intoxicated and forgot the new credentials. He still possessed an old mnemonic phrase — the seed phrase used to generate the wallet — but it no longer opened the current wallet file. Years of attempts followed.

He spent roughly $250 on professional recovery services, exhausted brute-force software testing an estimated 7 trillion password combinations, and eventually gave up on conventional methods entirely, per his X thread. He held out until Bitcoin crossed $100,000 before mounting one final serious attempt.

Bitcoin Found: How Claude Actually Did It

The recovery was not a case of AI breaking Bitcoin’s encryption. Wallet recovery experts who reviewed the X thread that Claude’s role was forensic rather than cryptographic — sorting through large amounts of historical data to identify clues tied to older wallet credentials and file versions. The distinction matters and @cprkrn’s own account confirms it.

Bitcoin is struggling to reach the $84,000 level, but a minor positive is that the bulls have not allowed the price to skid to the $76,000 support.

Select major altcoins have turned down from their overhead resistance levels, indicating that the bears remain in control.

Bitcoin’s ($BTC) recovery above $82,000 on Thursday was short-lived, as bears sold at higher levels and pulled the price back to the $79,000 level. Glassnode said in its Week On-chain report that several investors bought $BTC between November 2025 and February near the $86,900 level. These holders may sell near their entry price after experiencing large drawdowns, creating a barrier for $BTC’s continued rally.

Another negative view came from crypto analytics firm CryptoQuant, which said in a recent report that $BTC has hit its major resistance at the 200-day moving average near $82,400. In 2022, $BTC had resumed its downtrend after failing to cross above the 200-day SMA. $BTC may get into trouble if history repeats itself.

In a bear phase, it is not uncommon for the price to hit a wall at the major resistance and pull back. However, a positive sign in favor of the bulls is that they have not allowed the price to dip back below the short-term breakout level of $76,000. That suggests the bulls are not hurrying to close their positions as they anticipate another leg higher.
