Revolut users report Bitcoin price glitch showing 2 cents before recovery

Imagine checking your portfolio and seeing Bitcoin priced at two cents. Not two thousand. Not two hundred. Two pennies. That’s what some Revolut users say they experienced on Friday, in what appears to be one of the more spectacular display glitches in recent crypto app history.

The price snapped back to normal levels almost immediately, and no major exchange tracked by CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap showed any corresponding anomaly. Bitcoin was trading just above $79,000 during Asian afternoon hours on Friday. The incident appeared entirely isolated to Revolut’s platform.

What actually happened

Revolut’s official Bitcoin page showed BTC briefly marked around £29,414 on its one-day chart before returning near £58,600. That alone would have been a jarring drop. But social media posts from users painted an even wilder picture, with some claiming they saw prices as low as $0.02.

CoinDesk reported it could not independently verify those near-zero prints or confirm whether any trades were actually executed at those levels. Revolut had not responded to CoinDesk’s request for comment by the time that report was published.

Some users on X claimed buy orders executed during the disruption. Those reports also remain unconfirmed. If trades were indeed filled at those levels, Revolut would face the unenviable task of determining whether the prints reflected legitimate liquidity, stale quotes, a routing issue, or a straight-up pricing error on the platform’s side.

Here’s the thing. The day before the incident, Bitcoin was trading at around $81,022. So even the “less extreme” dip to £29,414 visible on Revolut’s chart represented a massive disconnect from reality. The $0.02 figure, if accurate, would be the kind of number that makes risk managers lose sleep for weeks.

Dogecoin continues to prove it is far more than just a meme. According to CoinGecko, $DOGE’s market capitalization has now grown to more than 8x the size of the entire $NFT market, highlighting just how dominant the original memecoin remains in the crypto space.

At the time of writing, Dogecoin is trading at around $0.106, down roughly 4% over the past 24 hours as the broader crypto market experiences volatility. Despite the short-term pullback, $DOGE still holds a market cap near $26 billion, massively overshadowing the struggling $NFT sector.

Fresh on-chain data from Santiment shows massive whale activity behind Dogecoin’s recent momentum. The analytics firm revealed that $DOGE whales recorded 739 transactions worth over $100,000 within a single day, the highest whale activity level in six months.

Santiment also noted that the 149 largest wallets holding at least 100 million $DOGE now collectively control an all-time high of 108.52 billion $DOGE, worth around $11.6 billion. According to the platform, this aggressive accumulation likely played a key role in $DOGE’s recent 14% rally over the last 10 days.

On-chain analyst Ali Martinez recently pointed out that Dogecoin successfully hit its $0.117 target after breaking through a major channel resistance. Following the move, he confirmed profits had been booked, signaling that traders may now be entering a cooling phase after the breakout.

Furthermore, free cash flow reached $84.1 million, representing 13% of total revenue.Despite the good numbers, the reason why NET investors panicked on Friday was a newly announced wave of layoffs. Cloudflare announced plans to cut more than 1,100 jobs worldwide. The reduction equals about 20% of its global workforce. The company linked the move to its shift toward an agentic AI-first operating model. The move capped off a week of several top companies issuing layoffs, including crypto exchange Coinbase (COIN). Several companies in tech are now spending money on artificial intelligence tools, such as AI agents, to do tasks previously performed by workers. Four years, one lawsuit, and a mixed ruling later, Ripple’s CEO is taking a victory lap. Brad Garlinghouse called a federal judge’s determination that $XRP is not a security one of the most consequential moments in crypto regulation, arguing it opens the door for institutional adoption and clearer rules across the industry.

What the judge actually ruled
The SEC sued Ripple in December 2020, alleging the company sold $XRP as an unregistered security, raising $1.3 billion through those sales.

In July 2023, Judge Analisa Torres delivered a split decision. She found that Ripple’s institutional sales of $XRP did qualify as securities transactions. But programmatic sales of $XRP on public exchanges were not securities.

The SEC initially signaled it would appeal the ruling. Then, in March 2025, the agency dropped the appeal entirely. $XRP surged 10% to $2.55 on that news.

Garlinghouse’s take
During an interview on Fox Business, Garlinghouse called the ruling “brilliant” and declared the saga complete.

“I’m finally able to announce that this case is over. It’s over.”

Garlinghouse highlighted $XRP’s growing institutional use case, suggesting that banks and financial institutions are more willing to adopt assets that come with legal clarity.

The SEC did not immediately comment following the announcement. The court docket also remained unupdated after Garlinghouse’s public statements.

Why this matters beyond $XRP
One risk to monitor: the same ruling that freed programmatic $XRP sales also confirmed that institutional sales were securities violations. Ripple paid a $125M penalty as part of the resolution.
