The token rebounded amid a broader crypto market rally as reports signalled a potential de-escalation in the U.S.-Iran war, as the latter has signaled its readiness to negotiate a new deal to end the conflict and stabilize regional trade. Previously, investors’ concerns surrounding the Middle East war deteriorated investor demand for risk assets, including XRP, which had fallen nearly 25% since the war began.  Demand for the token across leveraged markets has also cooled significantly. Data from CoinGlass shows that the total open interest for XRP futures stood at $2.48 billion at press time, significantly lower than over $9 billion seen in early October. Such a sharp decline in open interest suggests that speculative excess has been washed out, potentially leaving a cleaner path for a recovery. Paxos Labs has raised $12 million to solve what the project calls DeFi’s ‘product problem.’ Notably, Paxos Labs is a spin-off of the crypto infrastructure firm Paxos. 

Through its new Amplify, Paxos Labs believes it can make it super easy for users to earn yield, borrow, and lend assets at scale.

Former Lutnick-run Cantor Fitzgerald donates $10 million to crypto PAC led by Tether exec

Cantor Fitzgerald and Tether, the world’s largest stablecoin issuer, have maintained close ties since 2021, when the firm began serving as a custodian for Tether’s reserves.

The Fellowship PAC also spent over $1 million on advertising for candidates, including Republican Senate candidates Nate Morris in Kentucky, Pete Ricketts in Nebraska, and Republican House candidate Clay Fuller in Georgia, according to filings.

Cantor Fitzgerald, the Wall Street firm formerly owned by current U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, donated $10 million to a super political action committee backing pro-crypto candidates as election season ramps up.

The firm made that donation in February to the Fellowship PAC, according to a Federal Election Commission filing. Bloomberg earlier reported the news. Lutnick's sons now run Cantor Fitzgerald.

Cantor Fitzgerald and Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, have maintained close ties since 2021, when the firm began serving as a custodian for Tether’s reserves. During Lutnick's Senate confirmation hearing last year, lawmakers pressed the secretary on those ties as well as his influence over the crypto industry as a whole.

The Fellowship PAC launched in September 2025 with over $100 million in committed financial backing and a goal of supporting candidates who are "committed to transparent and predictable rules for digital assets." Earlier this month, the PAC named Tether U.S. executive Jesse Spiro as chairman.

Crypto PACs as a whole played a pivotal role during the last election season in 2024, raising millions of dollars to back pro-crypto candidates. Another big player, the Fairshake PAC, has amassed $193 million as of January.

The move higher has been driven largely by macro flows rather than a broad surge in speculative activity. U.S.-listed spot bitcoin ETFs have continued to draw consistent inflows this month, including roughly $240 million in a single session following geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, according to market maker Enflux.

That bid helped lift $BTC from around $71,000 to the mid-$70,000s, even as traditional markets absorbed rising oil prices and shifting rate expectations. The pattern, Enflux noted, reflects allocation behavior rather than momentum chasing.

But as bitcoin pushes higher, the character of the market is starting to change.

On-chain data suggests supply is beginning to emerge more aggressively as prices approach a key cost-basis level for short-term holders. Around $76,800 sits the so-called realized price for recent buyers, effectively the average entry point for traders who accumulated during the last phase of the drawdown, according to CryptoQuant. In weaker market regimes, that level has often acted as resistance, as investors who were previously underwater use rallies to exit at breakeven.

It should be noted that the same band capped January's bounce almost to the dollar before prices reversed toward $60,000.

CryptoQuant said bitcoin exchange inflows spiked to roughly 11,000 $BTC per hour, the highest since late December, as prices tested the $75,000 to $76,000 range.

At the same time, the average deposit size rose to about 2.25 $BTC, the highest daily reading since mid-2024, suggesting that larger holders are driving the move. The share of large transfers jumped from below 10% to above 40% of total inflows within days, a shift the firm said has historically coincided with increased distribution pressure.

According to a Wednesday Semafor report, Mansour said that Kalshi was launching a “portal for parents” to submit their identification to check whether their children were using the platforms under their names. The full proposal is a three-phase plan designed to protect Bitcoin from a threat that has quietly grown more serious: the eventual ability of quantum computers to crack the cryptographic keys protecting early Bitcoin addresses.

About 1.7 million BTC sits in old-style addresses known as P2PK — the kind used in Bitcoin’s earliest days. Those addresses expose public keys directly, making them vulnerable once quantum computing reaches sufficient power.

Satoshi Nakamoto’s stash alone is valued at roughly $74 billion at current prices. According to the proposal’s authors, if a bad actor gained quantum access to those coins, the damage to Bitcoin’s value and credibility could be severe.

BIP-361 builds on BIP-360, released in February, which introduced a new quantum-resistant address format called pay-to-Merkle-root, or P2MR. That earlier proposal protects new coins. BIP-361 tackles what BIP-360 left unresolved — the roughly 34% of Bitcoin’s total supply still sitting in vulnerable addresses.

The plan unfolds in stages. Three years after activation, sending BTC to old-style addresses would no longer be allowed. Two years after that, old-format signatures would be invalidated entirely.

Any coins that haven’t been moved by then would be frozen. The third phase — the rescue window — gives late movers a technical route to reclaim funds using proof of seed ownership.
