Institutions were never going to arrive in crypto the way crypto wanted them to. No stampede into governance tokens. No CFO proudly announcing that idle treasury had been rotated into volatile assets. No pension fund committee suddenly speaking fluent DeFi. That was always the fantasy version.The real version is less theatrical and far more important. Institutions will not buy crypto as a belief system. They will instead use it as infrastructure.Not because banks cannot copy the code. They can. But because they cannot copy the jungle that made the code useful: the speed, failure, pressure, and live-market iteration that web3 has been refining in public for years.
The Code Was Never the Moat
That is the part the institutional crypto debate keeps missing. The advantage of web3 is not that banks are technically incapable of building blockchain infrastructure. Many are perfectly capable. They have capital, engineers, consultants, vendors, internal innovation labs, and enough strategy decks to pave a road from Canary Wharf to Singapore.A bank can spin up a chain. For example, BlackRock’s BUIDL and DTCC’s tokenization service show that the institutional response is not to recreate crypto as a belief system, but to adopt tokenization as infrastructure. It can fork an execution environment. It can wrap the whole thing in compliance language, add permissioning, bring in a vendor, and present it six months later under soft blue lighting at a financial infrastructure conference. Billionaire Mike Novogratz Explains Why Bitcoin Just Won’t Go Up

Galaxy Digital Founder and CEO Michael Novogratz offered striking macroeconomic analysis of the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets in a recent financial broadcast.

While artificial intelligence (AI) and global technology stocks are attracting all the hot money and attention in the market with their parabolic rises, Novogratz stated that Bitcoin is in a temporary pause, but argued that the asset’s institutional maturation process is continuing unabated.

Novogratz stated that the main drivers of the markets are energy, global focus, and the “trends” offered to investors, adding that capital is currently shifting heavily towards data centers, the artificial intelligence trend, and the semiconductor sector.

Recalling that Bitcoin has undergone a correction of approximately 40% since its peak, the renowned CEO summarized the current state of the market with the following words:

Novogratz stated that this easing was not a collapse or a disaster scenario, but rather that the market was going through a neutral/horizontal consolidation period that could be described as “moderate”.

Novogratz, also touching upon the 4-year “halving” cycles closely followed by the cryptocurrency community, argued that the impact of supply reduction on investor psychology is now more dominant than its mathematical effect. He stated that this cyclical expectation has become a “self-fulfilling prophecy” and that those who took profits in the last months of last year were proven right. The CEO predicted that in the short term, the $72,000-$73,000 and lower $60,000 levels will continue to function as very critical and strong support areas for the market.

ApeCoin up 11% as GameFi tokens awaken – Will APE hold above $0.13?
ApeCoin [$APE] is up by about 11% in the past 24 hours, outperforming a nearly flat broader crypto market. Different altcoin sectors are gradually returning to last week’s positive gains after retracing for the last three days.

However, the crypto market remains quiet, an alarming signal to the continuation of $APE’s rally.

ApeCoin bounces off 80% Fib level

In the last two weeks of April, ApeCoin rallied by more than 184%, reaching a value of $0.2786. Consequently, a massive correction that lasted for more than a month followed. This correction pulled back about 80% of the aforementioned rally.

The MACD bars show that bulls’ strength is increasing, though in the current session it has slowed down. The Choppiness Index (CHOP) at 40 is supporting a potential uptrend.

The upper resistance of the descending channel runs from $0.1903 to $0.1300. To stay bullish, $APE bulls need to keep the altcoin above $0.13, and it’s currently approaching it for a retest.

Failure to do so may render the breakout invalid. That would see $APE drop back to the channel. On the flip side, it may trade back to April highs of $0.2786 or higher.

Volume and transactions surge

Among the key drivers of this rally was the spike in speculative capital. GameFi tokens like Virtuals Protocol [VIRTUAL] recorded double-digit gains in the past two days, with $APE among them.

In fact, the daily trading volume jumped by about 145%, reaching $51 million. Moreover, liquidity was present, evident from a turnover ratio of 36.94%.

Moreover, the number of daily transfer amounts has been rising over the past five days. This means an increase from 6.027 million $APE to 23.468 million tokens, with a total transfer count of 8,074 during this period.
These factors show strength not only in Apecoin but also in the broader GameFi sector.

Why Zcash Stood Out During A Difficult Market

Most altcoins faced significant pressure during the past year. Liquidity tightened, speculative interest faded, and investors became increasingly selective. Projects without a strong narrative often struggled to attract fresh capital.

Zcash benefited from a different market dynamic. Investors began revisiting privacy-focused cryptocurrencies as concerns surrounding financial surveillance, transaction tracking, and digital privacy gained attention. This shift helped create a strong privacy coin rally across parts of the market.
