Özet

HIVE Digital Technologies announced that its subsidiary BUZZ HPC has signed a five-year contract worth approximately $350 million with a high investment-grade company to provide cloud computing services using GPUs. The deal is expected to generate around $500,000 in daily revenue from high-performance computing once operational in Q4. This marks the second major GPU supply agreement since June. The contract will increase BUZZ HPC's annual revenue by about $70 million, bringing HIVE's total projected annual revenue to approximately $180 million. About $35 million is recognized immediately, with the remaining $145 million under contract to be deployed by the end of 2026. Under the agreement, BUZZ HPC will deploy a dedicated cluster of 2,016 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs hosted in GB300 NVL72 racks, using Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking and VAST Data storage. The cluster, based on an NVIDIA reference architecture, will be located at Bell AI Fabric's site in Merritt, British Columbia, powered by renewable hydroelectricity. HIVE estimates the capital expenditure for the cluster and related equipment at around $185 million. Funding will come from an upfront client payment, proceeds from a future convertible note issuance, and equipment financing. After the contract term, HIVE will retain ownership of the infrastructure. This move is part of HIVE's strategy to reach a $200 million annual revenue target from its GPU cloud business. Other mining companies like IREN, Hut 8, and Te...

HIVE Digital Technologies announced on Monday that its subsidiary BUZZ HPC has signed a five-year contract worth approximately $350 million to provide cloud computing services using GPUs to an unnamed company with a high investment grade rating.

The company expects this deal, once equipment is operational in the fourth quarter, to increase its high-performance computing revenue to approximately $500,000 per day.

BUZZ HPC Signs Second Contract Under Bell Deal

The agreement will increase BUZZ HPC's annual revenue by approximately $70 million, bringing the company's total annual revenue to around $180 million.

Of this, approximately $35 million is realized today. The remaining $145 million is in the contract pipeline and is scheduled to be deployed by the end of 2026.

This is the second major GPU deal since June. At the same site, under a previous three-year, $220 million agreement, BUZZ HPC is deploying NVIDIA Grace Blackwell systems for Bell and Cohere to provide a sovereign cloud AI solution.

CEO Aydin Kilic said, "We are pleased to announce this agreement as we accelerate towards our year-end goal of $200 million in annual revenue from our GPU cloud business."

Under the contract, BUZZ HPC will deploy a dedicated cluster of 2,016 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs. These will be housed in GB300 NVL72 rack-scale systems, interconnected by Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking, and using VAST Data storage.

As reported by HIVE, this deployment is based on NVIDIA's reference architecture and supports large-scale AI training and inference for enterprise clients.

The cluster is destined for the Bell AI Fabric site in Merritt, British Columbia. HIVE states the site is 100% powered by renewable hydroelectricity and uses a closed-loop liquid cooling system that does not require continuous water use. The company plans to deploy the system by the end of this year.

Miners Swap Hashrate for AI Contracts, and HIVE Gets Paid

The capital expenditure for the cluster, related equipment, and warranties is approximately $185 million.

HIVE stated it will fund the build in three ways. These include an upfront payment from the client of about $35 million, equal to 10% of the contract value; proceeds from a zero-coupon convertible bond issuance in June 2026; and equipment financing.

At the contract's end, HIVE will still own the infrastructure, which Kilic sees as a path to profitability. The company "is using debt financing to fund the purchase of GPUs to secure a very high internal rate of return," he said.

Executive Chairman Frank Holmes mentioned the availability of about 400 megawatts of capacity in Canada and the potential to deploy over 120,000 GPUs within two years.

IREN has a $9.7 billion cloud deal with Microsoft. Hut 8 signed a $7 billion data center lease as part of a partnership between Anthropic and Fluidstack, and TeraWulf joined a Google-funded Fluidstack joint venture worth $9.5 billion.

HIVE shares rose 4% at Friday's close and are trading up roughly 8% in Monday's pre-market. In its last quarter, the company's revenue was $79.1 million, including $7.1 million from BUZZ HPC. Its contracted GPU cloud revenue reached about $110 million.

In February, Cryptopolitan reported that the subsidiary had signed two-year contracts. The initial phase involved deploying 504 GPUs in Manitoba, with the expected High-Performance Computing (HPC) segment revenue projected to increase from about $20 million to $35 million.

Trump-Backed Company World Liberty Financial Partners with Chinese AI Company of Limited Access to Provide Artificial Intelligence Services

According to a Reuters report, Trump-backed cryptocurrency company World Liberty Financial is linked to WorldClaw, a Hong Kong-based platform providing access to Chinese AI models that the U.S. government has flagged as security threats. WorldClaw's platform features AI models from Chinese companies like Alibaba, Baidu, Z.ai, DeepSeek, and Moonshot, some of which are designated by U.S. entities as tied to the Chinese military or subject to export restrictions. The connection is facilitated by World Liberty's dollar-pegged stablecoin, $USD1, which is accepted for payment on WorldClaw. The Trump family benefits from interest generated by the stablecoin's reserves, and token sales have earned them over $1.4 billion. A World Liberty executive previously advised WorldClaw on integrating $USD1. Security experts warn that using these Chinese AI models could expose users to surveillance or malicious code. WorldClaw claims over 10,000 users and processes 50 million queries daily, partly due to the lower cost of Chinese models. Both companies and the White House deny any conflict of interest, stating the platform helps American AI firms access international markets and that listing models does not imply endorsement. External critics, however, argue it is hypocritical to profit from Chinese AI tools while the U.S. government aims to counter the rise of Chinese AI.

Moscow's Mining Ban Takes Effect: What Will Be the Consequences?

Mining has been banned in Moscow, the Moscow region, and parts of the Kursk region from August 15, with the prohibition set to last until December 31, 2032. The measure, requested by regional authorities, aims to prevent electricity shortages caused by energy-intensive mining equipment. This follows the legalization of cryptocurrency mining in Russia in November 2024, with restrictions now in place across 16 regions. Initially a blanket ban, an exception was introduced in March 2025 for miners using their own power generation, such as gas piston units or diesel generators, independent of the national grid. Major industry players had already begun shifting to on-site gas generation near gas fields to bypass grid limitations. While a trend emerged in 2025 to combine mining with AI computing infrastructure, this was complicated by authorities granting data centers (with a ban on mining inside them) preferential status as communication facilities. Experts state the new Moscow-area ban will significantly reshape Russia's mining geography but have a minimal global impact on Bitcoin's hash rate. The primary consequence will be a stronger industry shift to regions with energy surpluses, clear connection terms, and willingness to handle such loads. Moscow was already a contentious location due to high competition for power from data centers, industry, and urban infrastructure. For the Kursk region, the ban is also linked to infrastructure stability in border areas. The ban accelerates a market split. Large, legal operators will relocate equipment or seek sites with self-generation, while smaller or semi-legal miners operating in urban or industrial networks face higher costs and potential displacement into illegality. Industry participants note that post-2024 legalization had an unintended effect, with some major companies closing due to financial issues. Russian miners also face global pressures like low Bitcoin prices relative to mining costs, rising electricity prices, and the approaching 2028 halving, forcing some to shut down equipment.
