В Сан-Франциско грабитель под видом курьера украл криптовалюту на $11 млн, передает San Francisco Chronicle со ссылкой на отчет полиции. Рано утром в субботу злоумышленник проник в жилой дом, представившись сотрудником службы доставки, после чего, угрожая пистолетом, связал жильца скотчем.

В полиции не сообщили, был ли кто-то ранен в ходе нападения, и удалось ли поймать грабителя. Известно, что тому удалось украсть телефон жертвы, ноутбук и $11 млн в криптовалюте.

Как предположили эксперты, опрошенные Decrypt, полиция будет сразу вести расследование в нескольких направлениях: отслеживать украденные телефон и ноутбук, защищать оставшиеся криптоактивы от кражи и выявлять адреса воров и их транзакции. Но, по словам специалистов, реальность такова, что выявить подозреваемых обычно гораздо проще, чем вернуть украденную криптовалюту.

Эксперт по безопасности Джеймсон Лопп ведет общедоступную базу данных о физических нападениях на владельцев криптовалют по всему миру. За 2024 год в списке отмечено 32 случая, а с начала этого года почти вдвое больше — уже 60 инцидентов, не считая последнего ограбления в Сан-Франциско.
