1. Project Introduction
Monero is an open-source, privacy-focused cryptocurrency launched in 2014. Its blockchain is intentionally opaque, using advanced cryptographic techniques such as stealth addresses and ring signatures to obfuscate sender, recipient, and transaction amounts. Monero was initially launched in April 2014 based on the CryptoNote protocol by an anonymous developer known as thankful_for_today on the Bitcointalk forum. Amid early community disputes in May 2014, the project was taken over by a group of dedicated developers. Over time, Monero has continuously enhanced its privacy features, including RingCT (Ring Confidential Transactions), and has earned recognition as a leading privacy coin.
