1. Project Introduction
Worldcoin was proposed by Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, in 2019. Inspired by the economic concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI), the goal is to promote wealth distribution by sending free Worldcoin tokens. The project comprises three components:World ID: A privacy-protecting digital identity.
Worldcoin Token: A token distributed globally for free.
World App: A self-custodial app supporting global payments, purchases, and transfers.
The upcoming World Chain will further integrate the ecosystem. As of now, Worldcoin has 6.58 million users, with World ID authenticated in over 160 countries, and 1.39 billion wallet transactions completed via the World App.
