1. What Is Solayer?

Solayer (LAYER) is a restaking protocol within the Solana ecosystem that enables users to deposit SOL or liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and receive sSOL, providing shared security and liquidity for decentralized applications (dApps). The project has since evolved into an ecosystem spanning infrastructure, assets, and payment products. Its core network, Solayer Chain (also known as infiniSVM), is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain utilizing the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) execution environment and dedicated hardware acceleration. The infiniSVM Mainnet Alpha opened to developers in December 2025 and remains in the Alpha phase.

2. How Does Solayer Work?

Within Solayer’s restaking framework, users deposit SOL or supported LSTs in exchange for sSOL. These assets can generate yield in DeFi while providing economic security to external dApps. Solayer Chain leverages multi-executors, hardware acceleration, and Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) to maximize throughput and minimize latency on a single global state. While the team targets a design goal of over 1 million transactions per second (TPS), the network is undergoing continuous optimization. The ecosystem also features sUSD, a yield-bearing asset backed by U.S. Treasury, and Solayer Pay, which bridges stablecoins with real-world payment and consumer scenarios.

3. Who Founded Solayer?

Solayer was co-founded by Rachel Chu, Jason Li, and Chaz Cui, with Jason Li serving as the engineering lead. In August 2024, Solayer raised $12 million in a funding round led by Polychain Capital and Hack VC. In January 2025, the project conducted a community sale via Buidlpad, distributing 30 million LAYER tokens and raising $10.5 million.

4. Solayer Tokenomics

The native token, LAYER, has a maximum supply of 1 billion. The official allocation is as follows - R&D and Ecosystem Growth: 34.23%; Community Incentives: 14%; Solayer Pay Community Sale: 3%; Core Contributors and Advisors: 17.11%; Investors: 16.66%; Foundation: 15%. Collectively, community and ecosystem-related allocations account for 51.23% of the supply. Currently used for ecosystem governance, LAYER is scheduled to transition into a utility token powering gas fees, staking, and validator incentives as the Solayer Chain matures.

5. Timeline of Key Milestones

2024: Launch of Solana restaking, sSOL, and sUSD; Funding of $12 million.

January 2025: LAYER community sale completed.

February 2025: Launch of the LAYER token.

December 2025: infiniSVM Mainnet Alpha opened to developers.
