AB (AB) is a heterogeneous blockchain rebranded from Newton Project. The network operates with AB Core as its mainnet, utilizing specialized sidechains like AB IoT to power use cases across IoT, payments, gaming, finance, and Real-World Assets (RWAs). Its infrastructure and developer tooling consist of AB Connect, AB Explorer, the Unified Transaction Protocol (UTP), and gas fee abstraction.

AB Core handles general smart contract execution, asset settlement, and ecosystem dApps, while dedicated sidechains like AB IoT cater to industry-specific demands. AB Connect utilizes distributed nodes to link AB Core with AB IoT, enabling seamless asset transfers between the networks. UTP provides a unified transaction and payment protocol for applications, allowing users to settle gas fees with various assets including AB and USD1. The native AB token is used for paying network gas fees, accessing ecosystem services, and incentivizing node operators.
