Iran Responds to Trump's Remarks on the Strait of Hormuz
08/15 04:45
On August 15, U.S. President Trump claimed on the 14th that he would soon "declare the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory" after "defeating Iran." In response to Trump's statement, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated, "The Strait of Hormuz cannot be controlled by a tweet, an aircraft carrier, an executive order, or a campaign speech. Iran is neither afraid of threats nor will it be intimidated by force." Additionally, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy, Ali Azmaei, stated on the 14th that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and is under complete control of the Iranian military. "The actual situation should be observed on the ground, not in the statements of U.S. officials." (Jinshi)
