Global Semiconductor Market Expected to Exceed $1.5 Trillion by 2026

On June 4, the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Organization, composed of major semiconductor manufacturers, released a forecast report on June 2. It stated that due to the rapid expansion of demand for artificial intelligence, the global semiconductor market is expected to grow by nearly 90% year-on-year by 2026, surpassing $1.5 trillion. The report predicts that the global semiconductor market will increase by nearly 90% in 2026 compared to 2025, reaching $1.5 trillion (approximately 10.2 trillion yuan). It is also expected to grow by 26.6% in 2027, further rising to $1.914 trillion (approximately 12.9 trillion yuan). The report noted that due to the faster-than-expected proliferation of data centers, the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Organization has significantly raised its forecast, with the 2026 growth rate expected to set a historical high. From a product classification perspective, the report predicts that the growth rate of memory chips will reach an astonishing 249.5% this year, surpassing the $800 billion mark and exceeding the overall semiconductor market size of 2025. Logic chips are expected to grow by 37.3%, reaching $410 billion. Additionally, the report forecasts that the semiconductor markets in all major regions worldwide will continue to grow in 2027, with the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions being the two core engines driving this growth.
