Trump Administration Launches $17.5 Billion Nuclear Energy Support Plan

On June 23, Bloomberg reported that the Trump administration announced it would provide $17.5 billion in low-interest loans to support the construction of 10 new nuclear reactors across the United States. U.S. officials stated that the plan is expected to shorten the development timeline for nuclear power projects by up to three years and help meet the growing electricity demand driven by the rapid expansion of AI data centers. According to current plans, the first new reactors could be operational as early as 2035. If the project moves forward fully, it will become one of the largest nuclear power expansion plans in the U.S. in recent years, reflecting the country's acceleration in developing energy infrastructure to support the increasing electricity demands of artificial intelligence, data centers, and advanced manufacturing.
