What is SUN?
SUN is a social experiment filled with unlimited imaginations. It is a crucial component of the TRON DeFi. Together with the other developed decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, it enriches the whole TRON ecosystem. It may also take part in decentralized lending, insurance, liquidity, stable coins, etc. SUN is completely initiated, driven and developed by the SUN community. All of SUN’s functionalities will be implemented by open-source smart contracts, and is wholly operated by the community. The functionalities are developed based on community initiatives. All proposals and decision making are voted via SUN within the community, minority obeys majority. SUN will be deployed to the TRON Virtual Machine, becoming a nexus closely correlated with other existing DeFi projects.

On June 27, 2026, China's Institute of Plasma Physics announced the successful development and comprehensive testing of two key superconducting magnets for its "artificial sun" fusion reactor project. These magnets are crucial for containing plasma exceeding 100 million degrees Celsius within a vacuum chamber using powerful magnetic fields.
The first is a D-shaped toroidal field magnet, claimed to be the world's largest for a fusion reactor. Measuring 21m long and weighing 582 tons, it has 1.3 times the volume and triple the stored energy of its counterpart in the international ITER project. Key parameters include a 98 kA operating current and 120 GJ of stored energy. Sixteen such magnets will eventually form a ring generating a central field of 6.5 Tesla to confine the plasma.
Concurrently tested was a high-temperature superconducting central solenoid. It stably carries 60 kA of current and plays a critical role in inducing and sustaining the plasma current, essentially "igniting" the fusion reaction.
All key technologies and materials are domestically developed, with 47 patents filed. The magnets are destined for the BEST (Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak) device, with assembly planned by 2027 and a demonstration of power generation targeted for around 2030. Fusion is pursued as a potential source of vast, clean energy without long-lived radioactive waste. While this marks a significant technical achievement, the article's concluding AI perspective notes the ongoing race between China's state-funded, large-scale approach and private ventures in other countries betting on compact, high-field magnets, highlighting funding sustainability as a key long-term factor.
The legal battle between Justin Sun and World Liberty Financial (WLF) centers on the issuer's authority to freeze user funds, raising significant questions for the stablecoin market. Sun claimed a "major victory" after a California federal court hearing, stating the court rejected WLF's push for private arbitration. WLF co-founder Zack Witkoff denied this, asserting no ruling was issued and that Sun's lawyers agreed certain claims must go to arbitration. Public court records show no decision posted for the August 20 hearing.
The dispute began when WLF froze $45 million worth of US$1 stablecoins belonging to Sun after he declined a further $200 million investment offer. WLF cited security procedures and a token unlock agreement. With approximately $4 billion of the US$1 stablecoin in circulation, the case's outcome on freezing powers impacts a wide user base.
Parallel lawsuits include a defamation case by WLF against Sun in Florida. The timing follows Sun's recent settlement with the SEC and his large investments in WLF and Trump-themed memecoins, which drew political scrutiny.
Amid the litigation, WLF received preliminary conditional approval for a national trust bank charter. Its governance token, $WLFI, trades 87% below its peak. Regardless of the legal outcome, market uncertainty appears priced in.
Justin Sun has declared war on the altcoin $USD1, accusing World Liberty Financial (WLF) of embedding "backdoor functions" in its stablecoin that could allow the company to freeze or destroy user assets.
In a statement via X, Sun detailed his ongoing legal battle with WLF. He claims his legal team successfully opposed WLF's attempt to move their dispute into private arbitration, keeping the case public in a California federal court. Through this process, Sun alleges he discovered $USD1 has similar hidden authorization mechanisms that grant WLF unilateral control over user funds, posing a significant counterparty risk.
Sun also raised concerns about WLF's financial health. He questioned the company's ability to cover potential liabilities, including his own claims which could reach hundreds of millions of dollars. He emphasized that the roughly $4 billion in collateral backing $USD1 belongs to its users and cannot be used to satisfy company obligations. Sun urged investors to exercise "extreme caution."
WLF has not yet issued an official response to these allegations. Sun's claims remain unproven at this stage.
A notable Ethereum transaction occurred on a cryptocurrency address believed to belong to Tron founder Justin Sun, approximately a year after his last such activity. According to on-chain data, the address 0x176...0a132, associated with Sun, was used to unlock 5,000 stETH (worth approximately $12.3 million at the time) via the Lido liquid staking protocol. This is the first time Sun has unlocked this quantity of stETH since July 18, 2025, and the purpose of the transaction remains unknown.
Lido allows users to stake their Ethereum and receive stETH in return, which can later be converted back to ETH. Unlocking large amounts of stETH is a significant on-chain event closely monitored by the market. Sun reportedly holds around 243,000 stETH (valued at roughly $600 million) on-chain, and despite this recent transaction, he remains a major holder in the Ethereum ecosystem.
It is unclear whether the 5,000 ETH redemption is for an immediate sale. Large investors may liquidate stETH positions for various reasons, such as asset reallocation, liquidity needs, or strategy shifts. Market participants will closely watch transfers from this address in the coming days, particularly for signs of potential selling pressure if the ETH is moved to centralized exchanges.
The rapid advancement of quantum computing has reignited concerns about its threat to cryptocurrency security, particularly Bitcoin, prompting developers of altcoins like Tron to work on quantum-resistant technologies. Tron founder Justin Sun, speaking at the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference in Hong Kong, announced plans to make the TRON network quantum-resistant by the end of the year. He stated that TRON has been developing this technology for about a year, with a quantum-attack-resistant addressing system already implemented in the testnet in the first half of 2026. Sun contrasted this with Bitcoin, suggesting its path to quantum resistance might be slower due to its highly decentralized ecosystem involving miners, exchanges, WBTC, and other stakeholders, which makes reaching consensus on a unified solution more complex.
