Пока доступен только P2P-мессенджер с поддержкой нескольких чатов и возможностью работы через сеть браузера Tor. В приложении не предусмотрена регистрация и постоянные идентификаторы — залог «самой сильной анонимности», по мнению Тааки.

Разработчик предупредил, что актуальная версия продукта все еще содержит существенное количество багов.

«Мы очень быстро начнем расширяться, добавлять что-то, потому что у нас уже есть много функций, таких как анонимная ДАО, кошелек, блокчейн», — отметил Тааки.

По его словам, эти разработки уже функционируют, но еще не добавлены в продукт.

В октябре 2024 года DarkFi запустил тестирование нестабильной пре-альфа сборки системы обмена сообщениями. И тогда, и в февральском релизе Тааки акцентировал на стремлении к полной свободе слова.

В разговоре с журналистами он подчеркнул, что криптовалюты — это «способ обойти цензуру», и процитировал создателя биткоина Сатоши Накамото: «Мы как Гидра — отрубаешь голову, вырастает другая. Это расширит пространство свободы».

Программист также предположил, что сегодняшняя роль традиционных финансов в криптоиндустрии связана с нехваткой анонимности:

«Криптовалюты захвачены институционалами, потому что не было анонимности. Вы не можете изменить вещи, если у вас нет наступательных средств в виде сильной криптографии».

По мнению Тааки, Ethereum с его нейтралитетом заслуживает определенного уважения, но больший фокус на конкретных сценариях применения все же необходим.

«Мы уже не в 2012 году. У нас есть хорошее представление о том, какой основной сценарий использования нужно предусмотреть, чтобы иметь действительно сильное и привлекательное предложение для людей», — заявил разработчик.
