1. What Is Movement? Movement is a blockchain network built around the Move language. Its current mainnet is M1, a native Layer 1 that uses the MoveVM and is run by an independent validator set; MOVE is the native token used for transaction fees, staking, and governance. 2. How Does Movement Work? Per current official documentation, users and developers connect to the M1 network running Aptos Move, with a mainnet chain ID of 126. The team also explicitly notes that Sui Move and Move EVM (MEVM) have been deprecated and are no longer supported. In terms of token utility, $MOVE is designed as an ecosystem utility token, used to pay network gas, provide economic security through validator staking, and progressively take on governance and community incentive functions.
