The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has canceled at the last minute a meeting that was set to discuss the long-awaited cryptocurrency market regulation titled "Cryptocurrency Regulation."
According to Reuters, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) canceled an open meeting scheduled for August 14 at 10:00 a.m. due to unforeseen scheduling issues. The agency has not yet announced a new meeting date.
In the SEC agenda document, this item is clearly listed as "Regulation of Crypto Assets."
As is known, at today's canceled meeting, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was supposed to discuss rules for establishing a primary public offering (IPO) framework for certain investment contracts related to crypto assets. In this context, the meeting was dedicated to determining which rules would apply to the IPO processes for these specific contracts.
Notably, the SEC canceled the meeting after the U.S. Senate postponed discussion of the comprehensive cryptocurrency regulation bill, the Clarity Act, until after the August recess, while uncertainty regarding a comprehensive regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency sector in the U.S. persists.
