Digital asset infrastructure provider Taurus has integrated its tokenization and custodial platforms with Swift's blockchain ledger.
In an announcement published on Wednesday, Taurus told Cointelegraph that its customers will be able to connect their existing digital asset infrastructure to the ledger and make payments using bank-issued tokenized deposits.
The first client integrations are expected to go live within days, and the first distributed ledger technology-based transactions through Taurus' platforms are expected to take place within weeks.
Swift announced in July that its ledger was ready for initial use. Seventeen banks across six continents are preparing to conduct live pilot operations using tokenized deposits. Since then, Standard Chartered and HSBC have completed the first real cross-border transaction on the ledger, linking separate tokenized deposit systems.
The international payment network's ledger coordinates around-the-clock cross-border payments using tokenized deposits on the participating banks' balances. It organizes transfers between institutions prior to final settlement through existing mechanisms, including real-time gross settlement systems.
