Introduzione

Sui developer Mysten Labs has introduced a prototype network called Tessera, designed for confidential inter-company settlements on a blockchain. The solution aims to conceal transaction amounts from public view while still allowing counterparties and regulators to access necessary information. The public nature of transaction values is seen as a major barrier to corporate blockchain adoption. Tessera addresses this by utilizing multi-party computation (Seal MPC) and confidential transfers. In the prototype, a vetted group of companies can settle invoices using a confidential stablecoin, with network access governed by KYC procedures. The blockchain records the sender, receiver, and timestamp of a payment, but the amount is hidden from external observers. Counterparties can see the full amount of their transactions, and regulators can be granted tailored access. For instance, a prudential regulator could see all operations, a tax authority only a specific participant's activity, and an arbiter only the disputed transaction for the duration of a case. Network operators maintain consortium management functions, such as onboarding participants or freezing accounts. Tessera supports both one-time transfers and recurring payment channels. The prototype's code is open source.

Mysten Labs, the developer of Sui, has presented a prototype of the Tessera network, designed for confidential calculations between companies. The solution is meant to hide transaction amounts from outside participants while preserving the ability for counterparties and regulators to obtain necessary information.

Mysten notes that the public visibility of amounts in most blockchain networks remains one of the main obstacles to their use in corporate settlements. Companies may be unwilling to conduct payments through networks where competitors can see their pricing and transaction volumes.

Tessera is built on Seal MPC multi-party computation technology and confidential transfers. In the prototype, a closed group of companies can conduct settlements for invoices using a confidential stablecoin. Access to the network is regulated by a Know Your Customer (KYC) procedure.

The blockchain records who made a payment to whom and when, but its amount is displayed in a hidden form to an outside observer. At the same time, the counterparty can see the full amount of their transaction, and a regulator can gain access to the necessary information.

Thus, a single transaction can have different levels of access depending on the participant's role.

Regulators Get Limited Access

Tessera provides differentiated access for supervisory bodies and other authorized parties. In particular:

  • a prudential regulator can see all operations;
  • a tax authority can see the operations of a specific participant;
  • a dispute arbitrator can only see the transaction that is the subject of the dispute, and only during its consideration.

At the same time, none of these participants gains the ability to independently move funds.

The network operators retain consortium management functions. They can connect and fund participants, freeze individual users, or suspend network operations.

Tessera supports both one-time transfers and recurring payment channels. In case of a dispute, a transaction can be submitted to an arbitrator. The code for the Tessera prototype is open.

Recall that in May 2026, the Sui team removed fees for stablecoin transfers in the network.

Domande pertinenti

QWhat is Tessera and who developed it?

ATessera is a prototype network for confidential inter-company settlements, developed by Mysten Labs, the creator of the Sui blockchain.

QWhat core problem does Tessera aim to solve for corporate blockchain use?

AIt aims to solve the problem of transaction sum visibility, which is a major obstacle for corporate adoption, as companies are reluctant to use networks where competitors can see their pricing and transaction volumes.

QWhat technology is Tessera's prototype built upon for confidentiality?

AThe prototype is built on the Seal MPC (Secure Multi-Party Computation) technology and confidential transfers.

QHow does Tessera handle regulatory access to transaction information?

ATessera provides tiered access based on the regulator's role: a prudential regulator can see all operations; a tax authority can see a specific participant's operations; and a dispute arbitrator can only see the disputed transaction during the investigation period. None can move funds.

QWhat type of transactions does the Tessera network support?

AIt supports both one-time transfers and recurring payment channels. Access to the network is regulated by a KYC (Know Your Customer) procedure.

New Claude models will embed invisible watermarks in generated text

Anthropic has announced that starting from August 2, 2026, new Claude models deployed in the European Union will incorporate machine-readable invisible watermarks into generated text. This measure will apply globally wherever Claude is offered, including via its API, applications, and through partners like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry. The watermarking mechanism for text is distinct from file provenance. For text, invisible watermarks will be woven directly into the model's responses without altering meaning, quality, or readability, and are designed to persist through copying and pasting and partially through editing. This system is separate from the C2PA standard. For files (e.g., .png, .jpg), Claude already attaches C2PA-compliant metadata signatures to indicate AI origin. Models released before August 2, 2026 (including the current Claude Opus 5) are in a transitional period and do not embed text watermarks, though Anthropic is working to add support. Currently, there are no public tools to detect these text watermarks; Anthropic states it is developing such tools and will release technical details later. The timing aligns with the EU AI Act's Article 50, which from August 2, 2026, mandates labeling of AI-generated content, with potential fines for non-compliance. A key technical question remains regarding the watermark's resilience to paraphrasing or translation by other AI models, which in other industry experiments has significantly reduced detection accuracy.
