Bitcoin continues to trade sideways around the $64,000 mark amid ongoing uncertainty regarding U.S. monetary policy and geopolitical risks in the Middle East.
While BTC struggles to determine its direction, one analyst predicts that Bitcoin's next uptrend could begin after the U.S. midterm elections.
Joao Wedson, founder and CEO of the cryptocurrency analysis company Alphractal, in his latest analysis, has once again raised the issue of the connection between Bitcoin's price movements and the U.S. election calendar.
Wedson claims that by analyzing past market cycles, one can notice similar price behavior in Bitcoin, especially before and after U.S. midterm and presidential elections.
According to Wedson, Bitcoin has historically faced difficulties before U.S. midterm elections but recovered after the election-related uncertainty subsided.
The analyst states that based on historical data, in previous election cycles, Bitcoin entered a bear market about a year before the U.S. midterm elections, and then, after the elections, began prolonged bull markets.
"...Every time a president wins an election, Bitcoin experiences strong growth."
In some cycles, the price bottom was reached just a few days before the midterm elections, while in other periods, the bottom was observed immediately after the elections.
The analyst also noted that presidential elections have a varying impact: Bitcoin surges sharply every time a president wins an election and approaches the peak of the main cycle shortly after the president's inauguration.
According to Wedson, XRP is an even more striking example. It began a sharp rise on the day Donald Trump won the 2024 election and reached its local peak on January 20, 2025, the day of Trump's inauguration.
