Introduzione

Klarna, a Swedish fintech company, has partnered with Coinbase to enable institutional funding through USDC stablecoins. This new initiative allows Klarna to raise short-term capital from a new class of institutional investors using Coinbase's crypto services, complementing its traditional funding sources like deposits and commercial paper. The company's CFO highlighted the potential for diversification. This institutional effort is separate from Klarna's future consumer-facing crypto plans, which may include wallets and are targeted for 2026. Klarna also recently launched its own dollar-pegged stablecoin, KlarnaUSD, on the Tempo testnet, with a mainnet launch planned for 2026.

Klarna, a Swedish fintech company known for its “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) service, has partnered with crypto exchange Coinbase to add stablecoins to its institutional funding toolkit.

Under the arrangement, the global payments and digital banking firm plans to raise short-term funding from institutional investors denominated in USDC (USDC), using Coinbase’s crypto-native infrastructure, according to a Friday announcement.

“This is an exciting first step into a new way to raise funding,” Klarna chief financial officer Niclas Neglén said. “Stablecoin connects us to an entirely new class of institutional investors, and gives us the potential to diversify our funding sources in ways that simply weren't possible a few years ago,” he added.

The new funding channel will sit alongside Klarna’s existing sources, which include consumer deposits, long-term debt and short-dated commercial paper.

Klarna’s crypto push

Klarna said that the stablecoin funding initiative remains in development and is separate from its consumer- and merchant-facing crypto plans. Those efforts, which may include wallets or additional digital asset services, are expected to progress further in 2026.

However, the payments firm cautioned that the initiative is subject to regulatory, market and operational risks, noting that actual outcomes could differ from expectations.

Klarna said it selected Coinbase for the initiative due to its experience providing crypto infrastructure to large enterprises. The exchange currently supports more than 260 businesses globally, offering custody, settlement and blockchain-based financial services.

Klarna launches dollar-backed stablecoin

Last month, Klarna launched a US dollar–pegged stablecoin, becoming the first digital bank to issue a token on Tempo, a new layer-1 blockchain developed by Stripe and Paradigm. The stablecoin, called KlarnaUSD, is currently live on Tempo’s testnet, with a mainnet launch planned for 2026, according to the company.

Built by Stripe-owned stablecoin infrastructure firm Bridge, the token extends Klarna’s long-standing partnership with Stripe across its global payments network.

The GENIUS Act, passed in the United States in July, established clear rules for stablecoins and has helped fuel a wave of new issuances.

Earning Nearly $1 Million Daily, Can the PONS Token, Which Surged 5x in a Week, Keep Soaring?

Title: Platform Earns Nearly $1 Million Daily, Can PONS Sustain Its 5x Weekly Surge? PONS, the native token of the meme coin launchpad Pons on Robinhood Chain, has surged dramatically, its market cap skyrocketing from $60 million to a peak of $400 million within a week, currently stabilizing around $300 million. This explosive growth is fueled by Pons's dominant position on Robinhood Chain, where it now accounts for 66% of new token launches and 78% of the trading volume for newly issued tokens. This activity generated $930,000 in protocol revenue in 24 hours, ranking Pons seventh among all protocols. The platform's success hinges on a positive flywheel mechanism. Pons allows easy token creation for a minimal fee and charges a 1% transaction tax. This tax is split 70/30 between the token creator and the Pons protocol. Crucially, 80% of the protocol's share is used to buy back and burn PONS tokens. This creates a cycle: more token creation drives higher trading volume and fees, leading to increased buyback pressure on PONS, which in turn attracts more attention and users to the platform. The future trajectory of PONS depends on several factors: the longevity of the current meme coin frenzy on Robinhood Chain, Pons's ability to maintain its leadership against competitors like Flap, and whether the platform can produce a breakout, high-market-cap meme coin to enhance its wealth effect and attract further investment.

Robinhood Chain Records Largest Daily Trading Volume: $874.8 Million USD, 5.5 Million Transactions

Robinhood Chain recorded its highest daily trading volume and transaction count since its mainnet launch on July 1, with $874.8 million in DEX volume and over 5.5 million transactions. The network briefly surpassed Ethereum and Hyperliquid in application revenue, trailing only Solana. Activity followed a two-month cycle: an initial launch spike, a six-week decline to around $140 million daily in early August, and a three-week rally to new highs. The recent record was driven significantly by the permissionless token launchpad Pons.family, which alone accounted for roughly 51% ($445.98M) of the network's total volume that day. This represents a massive surge from its mid-August levels. While Uniswap Labs launched a competing, zero-fee platform (Pools.trade) in early August and briefly overtook Pons, momentum quickly shifted back. Pons's growth is partly fueled by a reflexive fee cycle, where 80% of protocol fees fund automatic token buybacks and burns, shrinking supply and attracting attention. The broader market rally, with Bitcoin surpassing $81,500 and Ethereum surging nearly 29% weekly, created fertile ground for speculative launchpad activity. Robinhood Chain's low coincided with the market bottom, and its recovery mirrored the upturn. The key question for Robinhood Chain is whether it can sustain transaction activity and volume once the current speculative frenzy on platforms like Pons subsides.
