&nbsp;Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) announced its metal trading set a new single-day record on January 26, reaching 3,338,528 contracts, an 18% increase compared to the previous single-day trading record of 2,829,666 contracts set on October 17, 2025 (Friday). "Amid the current macroeconomic uncertainty, record market volatility, and increased price risks, clients are turning to our markets to hedge and adjust their precious metals positions to achieve their trading goals," said Kim Hennig, Managing Director of Metals Business and Global Head at CME Group. The growing demand for CME precious metals contracts contributed to this record trading day. Among them, micro silver futures reached a record daily trading volume of 715,111 lots, with an open interest also hitting a record 35,702 lots. This day was also among the top five trading days for silver futures, micro gold futures, and 1-ounce gold futures. CME recently announced that it will launch 100-ounce silver futures on February 9, 2026, to meet the record retail demand, pending regulatory approval.
