Abstract

Pop star Chappell Roan has been named MAC Cosmetics' newest global brand ambassador. The 27-year-old Grammy winner will star in worldwide campaigns starting in 2026. In the campaign images shot by Inez & Vinoodh, Roan sports a dramatic beauty look featuring silver tinsel lashes, chalk-white skin, and graphic eye makeup—a modern take on androgyny inspired by film noir and 1930s military aesthetics. Roan called the partnership a “full-circle moment,” praising MAC for embracing “art, queerness, drag, and self-expression.” The brand’s global creative director, Nicola Formichetti, welcomed her as “the favourite artist’s favourite artist,” noting her alignment with MAC’s inclusive mission. MAC products have been used to create many of Roan’s iconic looks, including those for the VMAs, Grammys, and her “Saturday Night Live” debut. The announcement marks another career high for Roan, who won Best New Artist at both the 2024 VMAs and 2025 Grammys following the success of her debut album. She is currently working on her second studio album.

Nothing but glitter and lashes for Chappell Roan.

Roan said the partnership feels like a “full-circle” moment in her career, praising the brand for their commitment to inclusivity: “Since day one they’ve embraced art, queerness, drag and self-expression.” Sarah Pardini

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer will star in MAC campaigns worldwide beginning in 2026, with the brand promising “exclusive surprises and bold creative moments” throughout their long-term partnership.

Roan and MAC have been collaborating behind the scenes for over a year, with the brand’s products behind some of her most memorable looks — including her medieval warrior queen transformation at the 2024 VMAs, her dramatic Victorian glam for the Grammys, and her campy country look for her “Saturday Night Live” debut.

The campaign photographs, shot by legendary duo Inez & Vinoodh, show the pop star with her signature red curls piled high on her head, dramatic black and gray eye makeup (“to evoke a moody, cinematic intensity,” per makeup artist Andrew Dahling) and frosted-tip tinsel lashes.

“Chappell represents a generation that values authenticity, queer joy and fearless self-expression,” said Formichetti. Sarah Pardini

“Chappell’s first MAC campaign is a modern take on androgyny that feels powerful, graphic, and unmistakably her,” Dahling explained. “I drew from film-noir monochrome and 1930s military references and then layered in her signature high glamour.”

MAC’s global creative director Nicola Formichetti — who previously worked as Lady Gaga’s personal design director — praised Roan’s commitment to her community.

“Chappell represents a generation that values authenticity, queer joy and fearless self-expression, which aligns perfectly with MAC and our mission of ‘All Ages, All Races, All Genders,'” Formichetti said. “Welcome to the MAC family, Chappell, you really are the favourite artist’s favourite artist.”

The partnership is the latest feather in the cap for the Missouri native after a whirlwind couple of years. After being dropped by Atlantic Records in 2020, Roan released her debut album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” in 2023 to critical acclaim and skyrocketed to stardom in 2024 after opening for Olivia Rodrigo’s “GUTS” tour.

She took home Best New Artist at both the 2024 VMAs and the 2025 Grammys, where she used her acceptance speech to call on record labels to provide better healthcare and livable wages for developing artists.

Roan is currently working on her second studio album, though she told Vogue in August that fans will have to be patient.

“It took me five years to write the first one, and it’s probably going to take at least five to write the next,” she said.

Crypto Winter is Near. Is Bitcoin Headed for a Deep Correction?

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing heightened anxiety, with high volatility and talks of a "crypto winter" fueling fears of a deep Bitcoin correction. While some investors are moving to stablecoins, others are looking at infrastructure projects built on Bitcoin. Despite being the foundational asset, Bitcoin's limitations—slow transactions, high fees, and lack of flexible smart contracts—hinder its use in DeFi and mass applications. This has increased interest in Layer 2 solutions. Infrastructure altcoins that aim to transform Bitcoin into a base for financial applications are gaining attention. Projects focusing on modular blockchains, virtual machines, and liquidity bridges are being viewed as potential leaders in the next cycle. Among them is Bitcoin Hyper and its token $HYPER, which positions itself as the first Bitcoin Layer 2 integrating the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM). This project aims to combine Bitcoin's security with Solana's high throughput, offering low latency and minimal fees. Bitcoin Hyper's architecture uses Bitcoin for finality and an SVM layer for real-time transactions and smart contracts. It claims to exceed Solana's performance with sub-cent fees, enabling DeFi, NFT platforms, and gaming applications using wrapped Bitcoin. The project has raised $29 million in its early sale, with on-chain data showing significant "smart money" interest. The $HYPER token features staking with high APY and governance rights. Bitcoin Hyper's goal is to address Bitcoin's core limitations, potentially making it a key infrastructure play that benefits from future Bitcoin growth.
