XRP price breaks past $1.40 resistance, can it reclaim $2 next?




$XRP price pushed above the key $1.40 resistance level on Wednesday as improving market sentiment and strengthening technical signals supported a broader recovery across the crypto market.

According to data from crypto.news, $XRP ($XRP) price was trading near $1.44 at press time after climbing from an intraday low around $1.41. The token briefly touched highs near $1.45 before entering a short consolidation phase above the former resistance zone.

Canada approved CADD stablecoin under regulated framework.

Canada approved the CADD stablecoin as a regulated digital asset backed one-to-one with Canadian dollars. Tetra Trust launched the token across Ethereum, Base, and Tempo networks in early May 2026.

The approval came from Alberta regulators, aiming to expand compliant digital payments infrastructure.

BusinessWire reports showed that the launch positioned CADD as the first Canadian dollar stablecoin issued by a regulated financial institution.

This shift occurred because policymakers pushed for clearer crypto regulation frameworks after rising institutional demand for stable digital settlement tools.

The move followed global trends where regulated stablecoins gained traction among banks and payment firms.

The sudden breakout has made many traders excited and wondering why Zcash’s price is going up so fast today.

Multicoin Capital Co-Founder Invests in Zcash
One of the biggest drivers behind today’s rally came from Tushar Jain, co-founder of Multicoin Capital, who revealed he has made a significant investment in Zcash this year.

Jain explained that Zcash strongly aligns with the original “cypherpunk” vision of cryptocurrency, focusing on privacy, censorship resistance, and financial freedom. He pointed to Zcash’s shielded transaction feature, which hides sender, receiver, and transaction amounts. 
According to Jain, rising regulatory pressure and wealth-control policies are increasing demand for truly private digital assets.

While Bitcoin offers resistance against censorship, Jain argued that it does not fully protect users from government tracking or wealth-related regulations. In his view, Zcash offers a stronger privacy-focused alternative.
Robinhood Listing Boosts Retail Demand
Another major catalyst came from Robinhood, which officially listed Zcash in late April. The listing gave more than 10 million retail users easier access to ZEC trading. Since the listing, Zcash has surged more than 40% over the past 30 days, with demand continuing to rise.

On-chain data also shows that nearly 30% of ZEC’s circulating supply, roughly 5.18 million coins, is currently locked in shielded pools. This reduces liquid supply in the market and can strengthen bullish price momentum during periods of high demand.

In this framework, sustained accumulation tends to carry greater weight than transient positioning by weaker hands.

Given this context, the chart below carries significance.

As shown, companies accumulated 50,351 Bitcoin [$BTC] in Q1 this year, the highest quarterly total on record. Notably, this accumulation coincided with a 22% correction in $BTC, highlighting the divergence between price weakness and sustained corporate demand.

However, among long-term holders, accumulation varied significantly.

In a recent report by ARK Invest, $BTC supply held by conviction buyers surged 69% in Q1 to 3.60 million $BTC, marking the highest level since 2020. This brings total long-term holder supply (155+ days) to 14.62 million $BTC, up 4.5% year-over-year.

In this context, the 50k+ $BTC accumulation by public companies further reinforces institutional demand during periods of volatility.

That said, timing matters even more.

Bitcoin’s Q1 correction followed a 23.29% correction in Q4, meaning market FUD already sat in prices.

Yet corporate treasuries still accumulated significant $BTC, raising a key question: What exactly does this sustained structural demand price in?

On the longer timeframe, macro volatility has stress-tested Bitcoin’s hedge status this year.

From a technical angle, $BTC recorded 20%+ corrections in both Q4 and Q1, while gold (XAU) rallied roughly 20% over the same period. Despite recent relative strength in the $BTC/XAU ratio, Bitcoin’s quarterly ROI still lagged gold for two straight quarters, reinforcing a persistent gap in performance during macro volatility.
