Solana price climbs toward overbought zone, can buyers push past $100?

According to data from crypto.news, Solana ($SOL) traded around $94 at press time on May 13 after briefly climbing above $96 earlier in the session. The token has now recovered sharply from its April lows near $80, supported by improving sentiment around the Solana ecosystem.
Solana’s recent rally appears to have been driven by a combination of institutional inflows into newly launched U.S. spot Solana ETFs and growing optimism surrounding the network’s upcoming Alpenglow upgrade. Investor sentiment also improved after recent Firedancer-related developments reinforced Solana’s long-term scalability narrative.

At the same time, activity across the Solana ecosystem has started recovering, with decentralized exchange volumes and memecoin trading showing signs of renewed strength in recent weeks. Derivatives sentiment has also strengthened sharply, with $SOL futures open interest climbing alongside positive funding rates, signaling growing bullish positioning among taders.

On the daily chart, Solana recently broke above the important resistance cluster near $90.63 before rallying toward the $96–$100 region, where sellers have started becoming more active.

Charles Schwab Launches Spot BTC and ETH Trading for Retail Clients

Charles Schwab has launched direct Bitcoin and Ethereum trading for eligible US retail clients.
Charles Schwab has begun rolling out direct spot cryptocurrency trading to its first wave of eligible retail clients.

The firm confirmed the launch in a May 13 post on X, stating that users can now trade Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) inside a standard Schwab brokerage account alongside stocks and other investments. Schwab manages more than $11 trillion in client assets and serves 39.1 million active brokerage accounts as of March 2026.

The service operates under the Schwab Crypto brand as a separate account linked to a client's existing Schwab portfolio. Charles Schwab Premier Bank holds custody of the digital assets. Blockchain infrastructure provider Paxos handles trade execution and sub-custody. Clients can access the service through Schwab's web, mobile, and Thinkorswim platforms, according to the company's April announcement.

Schwab Crypto charges a fee of 75 basis points per transaction. The service is available in all US states except New York and Louisiana. Schwab noted that not all clients will qualify for crypto trading. The rollout follows the firm's April announcement that spot crypto access would be introduced in phases.

The sell-off followed the release of the company’s first-quarter 2026 earnings, which showed a net loss of $1.26 billion — more than double the $533 million loss recorded in the same period last year. Revenue came in at $175 million, down 18% from a year ago, partly due to falling Bitcoin prices.

During the quarter, MARA sold 20,880 $BTC worth nearly $1.5 billion. A large portion of those sales — 15,133 $BTC sold between March 4 and March 25 for about $1 billion — went toward buying back convertible notes.

About $1 billion of the proceeds were used to reduce the company’s convertible debt load from $3.3 billion to $2.3 billion, a reduction of roughly 30%. That transaction generated a $71 million gain from debt extinguishment.MARA is making a clear move away from aggressive Bitcoin mining. Officials said the company does not plan to make large-scale purchases of ASIC mining hardware going forward.

About 90% of its non-hosted mining capacity can reportedly be converted into AI and IT infrastructure. The company said its strategy centers on placing new infrastructure alongside existing Bitcoin mining operations, allowing it to generate revenue from power assets while drawing on its operational experience in mining.

The company is also cutting 15% of its workforce, a move expected to save $12 million annually.
