a16z Reveals What TradFi Really Wants From Blockchain

TradFi institutions are adopting blockchain to improve their existing operations, not because they have embraced decentralization, venture capital firm a16z said in its latest report.

The technology helps lower operating costs, speed up settlement, expand distribution, and “tighten its grip” on customer relationships, which makes it a practical business tool rather than an ideological shift.

TradFi’s Blockchain Push
Institutions are not blending into DeFi as it exists today. Instead, a16z stated that they are adopting only the elements of DeFi that fit their regulatory, operational, and risk requirements while leaving behind features that do not. This selective approach is reshaping blockchain-based finance into something different from both traditional finance and current DeFi.

The result is an emerging form of programmable financial infrastructure designed to meet institutional needs while using the technology as its foundation.

According to a16z, initiatives such as JPMorgan’s permissioned blockchain for institutional deposits and tokenized money market funds from BlackRock and Franklin Templeton are not examples of institutions embracing DeFi. Instead, they are using blockchain to improve existing financial services like interbank settlements, fund subscriptions, and yield-bearing products.

They benefit from blockchain features such as programmability, transparency, and atomic settlement while intentionally avoiding core DeFi principles like open access, pseudonymity, and trustless execution. The focus is on making traditional financial infrastructure more efficient rather than adopting decentralized finance in its original form.

Is XRP a Good Investment in 2026? Price Analysis and Prediction

XRP is pinned between a falling trendline and the $1.00 floor. Here's what the chart, the CLARITY Act, and 2026 forecasts really say.

XRP is trading around $1.09, grinding against a descending trendline that has capped every rally since spring. The two-hour chart tells a tidy story: a lower-highs ceiling running down from the $1.30 zone, a hard floor at $1.00, and price boxed in the middle with RSI near 46 — momentum that is committed to neither a breakout nor a breakdown. So the real question for investors isn't just where $XRP goes next week. It's whether, at these levels, Ripple's token is actually worth buying in 2026.

Where is XRP right now?

The structure is a textbook squeeze. Since the June sell-off that dragged $XRP from roughly $1.30 down toward $1.00, price has carved out a consolidation range between $1.00 support and $1.15–$1.20 resistance, all of it underneath that yellow descending trendline.

$1.00 — the psychological floor and the line separating a bounce from a deeper flush. A daily close below it opens an air pocket toward $0.80.

**1.15–$1.20** — the overhead band XRP must reclaim and hold to argue the year-long downtrend is over.

The descending trendline — currently the immediate lid on price. A clean break above it is the first technical signal bulls actually need.

RSI near 46 confirms the stalemate: buyers and sellers are balanced, volatility is compressed, and the market is waiting for a catalyst rather than trending on its own.

Samsung Electronics has cut hundreds of jobs in the US as it shifts the headquarters of its consumer electronics business from New Jersey to Texas.

The restructuring affects employees across the company's display, smartphone and other consumer electronics businesses. The largest impact has been in New Jersey, with additional layoffs reported in Texas.

In a statement to Reuters, Samsung said that 739 roles at its Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, office have been affected by the relocation of Samsung Electronics America (SEA). It clarified that SEA oversees its consumer electronics business and does not include its semiconductor division.
