Shiba Inu: Shibarium DEX Trading Volume Surges Over 1,500% as Network Activity Rebounds

Trading activity on Shibarium-based decentralized exchanges (DEXs) is showing signs of recovery after daily volume surged by more than 1,500% within 24 hours.

According to data from DeFiLlama, Shibarium’s DEX trading volume jumped 1,517%, rising from just $17 on July 9 to $275 on July 10. Notably, Shiba Inu’s native decentralized exchange, ShibaSwap, accounted for the entire $275 in trading volume.

Although the figure remains insignificant compared to rival blockchain ecosystems that process tens of millions of dollars in daily DEX volume, the increase represents a notable improvement from Shibarium’s recent performance.

Trading Volume Recovers After Weeks of Inactivity

The latest spike follows an extended period of minimal trading activity on the network.

Notably, Shibarium recorded no DEX trading volume from June 23 through the end of the month. Activity resumed at the beginning of July, but only $3 worth of trades were executed. Trading volume then climbed to $17 on July 9 before surging to $275 the following day, representing a 1,517% day-over-day increase.

While trading activity remains modest in absolute terms, the latest figures suggest that liquidity is gradually returning to the Shibarium ecosystem. 

Shibarium TVL and Transactions Soar

Meanwhile, Shibarium’s decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem has also expanded in recent weeks. At press time, the network’s total value locked (TVL) stood at $24,014, representing an 11.71% increase from its June 27 level. 

Additionally, TVL has risen by 1.50% over the past 24 hours, indicating continued growth in assets deposited across Shibarium-based protocols. Beyond decentralized exchange activity, overall network usage has also strengthened.

Cambridge Research Finds Ethereum’s Proof-of-Stake Energy Use at Low End

Ethereum’s post-Merge operating footprint is looking cleaner than its proof-of-work era, but a new assessment from Cambridge underlines a more nuanced reality: the network’s energy intensity sits near the lower end among major proof-of-stake blockchains, yet Ethereum still consumes more electricity than most of the other PoS networks included in the comparison.

In a study published by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, researchers estimated Ethereum uses about 7.87 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually. On an economic-adjusted basis—energy consumed per unit of market value—the network works out to roughly 33 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per $1 million, the second-lowest among the PoS networks evaluated, behind BNB Chain.

Virtual Protocol [$VIRTUAL] attracted renewed market attention after its price surged 15.92% over the past 24 hours, reflecting growing investor confidence in a series of ecosystem developments.

The project migrated $700 million worth of $VIRTUAL tokens from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).

This aligns with a broader shift toward Chainlink’s cross-chain infrastructure after the recent KelpDAO exploit heightened security concerns across DeFi.

Investors rewarded the decision as a proactive step to strengthen interoperability and reduce cross-chain risks.

Interest also increased after Robinhood Chain integrated Virtuals’ AI agent infrastructure, allowing developers to launch, fund, own, and use tokenized AI agents from day one. The integration expanded Virtuals’ presence within the tokenized AI economy.

As confidence strengthened, buyers continued accumulating the token, supporting the rally and reinforcing the project’s long-term infrastructure narrative.

Serious Allegations of Manipulation Surround an Altcoin: Its Value Has Almost Completely Evaporated.On-chain data showed that an address believed to have insider information continued to transfer large amounts of $LAB tokens to the Aster platform.

The address in question sent 10.5 million $LAB to Aster in its last transaction. Based on the transfer price of $0.872, the total value of the tokens was calculated to be approximately $9.15 million.

This transaction marked the second large $LAB transfer from the same address in approximately 22 hours. The total value of $LAB tokens transferred to Aster from this address in the last 24 hours reached approximately $18.69 million.

The sharp drop in the $LAB price following the initial transfer made by the address the previous night has increased concerns that the new transaction could create selling pressure in the market. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the transferred tokens have been sold.

$LAB has been showing high volatility recently, with a 28% drop in the token’s price in the last 24 hours. Over the past month, the drop has been 92%.

One million transactions for $5,000: Is XRPL's AI economy ready to grow up?

A revealing situation has emerged on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) as autonomous AI agents have already completed more than 1 million transactions, yet the total value of these payments in XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin has barely exceeded $5,000, according to XRPL AI Hub.

The impressive one-million figure generated loud headlines, but it also exposed the reality: to secure a meaningful position in the market, the AI economy on the XRP Ledger needs to be measured in billions of transactions, not thousands of dollars.

The low financial volume is a direct consequence of the structure of current AI traffic. Bots use the blockchain for microtransactions, paying fractions of a cent for API calls, seconds of GPU computing time, or access to text data.

XRPL handles these tasks effortlessly thanks to its minimal and predictable fees. Financially, however, the system is still running almost idle. One million transactions prove that machines can communicate with one another, but they are not yet bringing meaningful liquidity to the network.

For the AI ecosystem surrounding XRP and RLUSD to enter the major leagues, it must move beyond the "sandbox" stage and begin managing significant amounts of capital. Real volume will arrive when AI agents stop merely purchasing code and start independently managing corporate funds and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).

Eric Trump’s stake in Bitcoin mining and treasury firm American Bitcoin Corp. has been devalued by about $600 million, according to a Bloomberg report.

He owns about 6% of the firm and doubles as American Bitcoin’s Chief Strategy Officer. His brother, Donald Trump Jr., also owns an undisclosed stake in the firm.

Amid the broader crypto downturn, the firm’s stock, ABTC, has plunged by 97%, crashing from September 2025’s peak of $217 to a record low of $5.98. This week alone, it dumped by over 29%.

The massive stock dump forced the firm to launch a 1-for-5 reverse stock split on 2nd of July to remain listed on the Nasdaq.

A company’s stock must maintain a minimum bid price of $1 to remain listed on the exchange. In fact, Nakamoto, another Bitcoin treasury firm, was forced to opt for a stock split to avoid a similar delisting.

American Bitcoin Corp. scales holdings to 8,000 BTC
Despite the ongoing stock dump, however, the firm increased its BTC stash to 8,000 coins from 7,500 coins.

Commenting on the same, Eric Trump downplayed the stock sell-off as just ‘crypto market volatility.’ In fact, he simply reiterated the commitment to ‘stacking’ more BTC at a discount.

Separately, the broader Bitcoin treasury demand for the crypto asset has eased significantly after its largest buyer, Strategy, became a seller. Strategy recently sold $216M worth of BTC.

In the last 30 days of trading, the demand from corporate treasuries has been negligible at 0.3%. In fact, after Strategy’s sale, the overall stash held by public companies dropped from 1.267M to 1.265M BTC.

One of the market’s most visible Bitcoin treasury launches is now stuck rebuilding its financing before BSTR can reach public investors.

In a July 8 Form 8-K, Cantor Equity Partners I said it and BSTR are discussing a revised structure and amended terms for the proposed business combination. The filing said the companies will not complete the deal under the terms in the original agreement, and that the pending private placements tied to the transaction will not be required to be consummated.

The accompanying company update said the revised structure and terms are intended to better reflect current market conditions. The same update said the shareholder meeting scheduled for July 10 has been postponed indefinitely, while any public shares submitted for redemption will be returned and will not be redeemed.

The financing reset is where the Bitcoin treasury trade meets reality. Before BSTR can worry about how its shares perform, it has to prove investors will still fund the launch on workable terms.
