Strategy’s Michael Saylor hinted at something few expected to hear from him — that his company might actually sell some of its Bitcoin. Not out of desperation, but as a calculated signal to the market.

A Message, Not A Meltdown
Speaking during the company’s first-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, Saylor said Strategy could sell a portion of its holdings to fund a dividend — mainly to prove a point.

“We’ll probably sell some Bitcoin to fund a dividend, just to inoculate the market, just to send the message that we did it,” he said.
The idea, as Saylor put it, is to show investors that the company is stable, Bitcoin is fine, and the world hasn’t fallen apart.

It marks a sharp turn from the stance he held as recently as February, when he told CNBC that Strategy would “buy Bitcoin every quarter forever.”


At the time, he also said the company could weather a price drop to as low as $8,000 without being forced to sell any of its holdings to cover debt.

Strategy now holds 818,334 Bitcoin, valued at roughly $66.7 billion. That’s a lot riding on a single asset.

Big Loss, Bigger Context
The earnings call came after Strategy posted a $12.5 billion net loss for the first quarter. Most of that loss was tied to unrealized declines in the value of its Bitcoin holdings, which dropped 23.5% during the quarter.

The market reacted swiftly — shares of MSTR fell 4.33% in after-hours trading, closing at $178.80.

Still, Saylor remains focused on the long game. Strategy has been funding its Bitcoin purchases through dividend-paying preferred stock offerings, including one called Stretch, ticker STRC.

Reports indicate that Stretch carries an 11% monthly dividend and has helped finance much of the 145,834 Bitcoin the company acquired this year alone.

Saylor said he wants Stretch to become the largest credit instrument in the world, arguing that growth in assets under management will attract more liquidity and broader adoption.

The metaverse isn't a place: Why Animoca’s Yat Siu says the future is 100 billion AI agents

The crypto industry may have fundamentally misunderstood the metaverse, according to Animoca Brands chairman Yat Siu, who argues that the next phase of virtual economies would arrive not through VR headsets or immersive digital worlds, but through fleets of AI agents transacting across blockchain networks behind the scenes.

Siu said the metaverse maybe coming to us rather than being a place that humans go to, during his keynote at Consensus Miami 2026.

For Animoca, this marked a distinct pivot from the pandemic-era vision of the metaverse it once championed, in which users were expected to spend increasing amounts of their social and economic lives in immersive virtual worlds.

Siu now says the more consequential shift may be AI systems operating in the physical world on behalf of humans, handling transactions, bookings, coordination and commerce in the background while blockchain networks function as the infrastructure connecting those agents.

Instead, Siu argued the next phase of the internet may revolve around AI systems operating continuously in the background of everyday life, handling tasks such as bookings, payments, scheduling, and online transactions on behalf of users.

He said consumers could eventually rely on dozens, or even hundreds, of AI agents to coordinate their digital activities, with blockchain networks serving as the financial and identity infrastructure connecting those systems.

“I think the point is that it’s going to be more agents than humans,” Siu said, predicting there could eventually be “50 to 100 billion agents roaming essentially on the internet.”

That shift, he argued, could also solve one of crypto’s longest-running problems: onboarding ordinary users.

While an estimated 700 million to 800 million people globally now own some form of cryptocurrency, Siu noted that fewer than 70 million actively use block

How the Integration Works

Bitcoin owners will be able to lock their $BTC into Babylon’s Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV), a mechanism that holds bitcoin on its native blockchain under programmatic rules, without moving it off the Bitcoin network. From there, users can programmatically borrow and self-commit those locked funds to Gomining’s mining products, earning rewards from Gomining’s industrial-scale operations in the form of native bitcoin yield.

The key distinction, per the official announcement, is that users never wrap their $BTC into a synthetic token, never bridge it to another chain, and never hand custody to a third party. The bitcoin remains onchain on the network throughout, with vault rules enforced at the protocol level rather than by a centralized operator.

David Tse, co-founder of Babylon, said the integration “extends the reach and adoption of TBV within a Bitcoin-aligned ecosystem,” while Mark Zalan, CEO of Gomining, added that the partnership “extends infrastructure to Bitcoin holders who refuse to compromise on self-custody.”

The initial rollout targets up to 1,000 $BTC, approximately $82 million at current prices, committed through the aforementioned vault system.
