XRP Price Rejection Sparks Drop, Bulls Lose Short-Term Control

$XRP price failed to stay above $1.440 and extended its decline, like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The price declined below $1.4320 and $1.430 to enter a short-term bearish zone.

There was a break below a bullish trend line with support at $1.430 on the hourly chart of the $XRP/USD pair. The price even extended losses below $1.40. A low was formed at $1.3835, and the price is now consolidating losses. There was a minor recovery wave toward the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the downward move from the $1.4471 swing high to the $1.3835 low.

Bitmine's ether buys are catching up to Strategy's bitcoin accumulation pace
A second corporate accumulator of cryptocurrency is starting to look a lot like the first.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), the treasury firm chaired by Fundstrat’s Tom Lee, bought 101,901 ether ($ETH) worth roughly $234 million last week. That's close to the regular weekly purchases from Strategy (MSTR), the Michael Saylor-led bitcoin digital treasury company, as well-followed crypto trader Luke Martin flagged on X.

Strategy's normal weekly buys are around $200 million to $300 million, once large purchases fueled by at-the-market sales of its perpetual preferred stock STRC are stripped out. The STRC spikes — the massive bursts that show up in mid-January, late February, late March and, most recently, April 21 at $2.54 billion — are the outliers, not the baseline.

MiCA-licensed Banking Circle joins bank stablecoin settlement race in Europe


Luxembourg-based Banking Circle has launched stablecoin settlement services after receiving a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg's financial regulator on April 15, expanding into regulated fiat-to-stablecoin and stablecoin-to-fiat settlement for institutional clients.

The rollout includes support for Circle's $USDC, Paxos' USDG and Banking Circle's own euro stablecoin $EURI, expanding the bank's digital asset settlement capabilities beyond its initial $EURI launch in August 2024.

In a Monday announcement, the bank said it serves more than 750 payment companies, financial institutions and marketplaces that move and convert over 1.5 trillion euros (roughly $1.7 trillion) annually across its infrastructure. Chief digital asset officer Kirit Bhatia said in the release that stablecoins are "a natural extension" of the bank's infrastructure and central to reducing costs and improving efficiencies.

The move comes as Europe’s market for regulated stablecoin issuance and settlement continues to grow, with banks, fintechs and crypto-native companies competing to build compliant digital asset payment infrastructure under the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA) framework.

Cointelegraph reached out to Banking Circle for comment but had not received a response by publication.

Coinbase says stablecoins settled $33T in 2025, eclipsing Visa’s $16.7T and turning on‑chain dollars into the internet’s real‑time, low‑fee payment backbone.

Coinbase’s official account ignited a fresh round of payments‑wars discourse on X with a comparison thread claiming that “$33T was settled in stablecoins in 2025” and declaring that “the internet finally has real money.” The post set the “old way” of payments — 3–5 business day settlement windows and 3%+ card fees — against what Coinbase called the “new way”: 24/7/365, near‑instant settlement with fees measured in fractions of a cent on public blockchains.

Stablecoins now out-settle Visa

The $33 trillion figure tracks closely with Artemis Analytics data reported by Bloomberg, which found global stablecoin transaction value jumped 72% year‑on‑year to $33 trillion in 2025, led by roughly $18.3 trillion in volume from Circle’s USDC and $13.3 trillion from Tether’s USDT. By comparison, Visa reported $16.7 trillion in total payment volume for fiscal 2025, according to recent coverage of its annual results, underscoring how on‑chain dollar tokens now move more gross value than the world’s largest card network.

Commentators have been quick to note that these numbers dwarf earlier expectations. “For years people asked what stablecoins are for; the 2025 data tells a different story,” Forbes wrote in a March column, pointing out that stablecoins “moved $33 trillion last year, more than Visa and Mastercard combined.”

From speculation rails to “real money”

Research firms caution that raw transfer volume overstates true “payments” usage, but even adjusted estimates are now brushing against legacy rails. Chainalysis, for instance, recently estimated that stablecoins processed around $28 trillion in “real economic volume” in 2025 an
