Growing Network Strength Pushes Ethereum Back Into Focus
Ethereum’s recent upward momentum in the past few days is not only seen in its price action. This renewed strength is being observed across the ETH ecosystem as the network’s performance surges, which is triggering fresh momentum in the market.

During the period, there has been rising transaction activity, stronger on-chain engagement, and continued growth in key sectors that appear to be strengthening investors’ conviction in the network’s long-term value.

After examining the ETH chart in the monthly time frame, Leon Waidmann, a market expert and head of research at Lisk, revealed that the altcoin is currently exhibiting a trend that has caught the attention of the market. The chart shows a three-year sideways consolidation in a clean range supported by a breakout. Specifically, the momentum indicator at the bottom just broke out of its multi-year base.

ETH has been ranging since 2023, and building energy at the base of the structure. After a period of building strength, the altcoin has broken above the multi-year resistance, which has created a classic accumulation before a major move.

Consolidation phases are sometimes a positive reaction as they can precede upside movement. Waidmann noted that the longer the consolidation phase, the bigger the move out of it will be. What makes this period interesting is the increased network performance that is coinciding with the current momentum.

Weakness in derivatives signals sell-side dominance

$SUI is also losing traction in the derivatives market. According to CoinGlass, $SUI futures Open Interest (OI) fell 10.5% over the past 24 hours to $727.97 million, reflecting a reduced notional value of outstanding contracts.

In the same period, $7.2 million in positions were liquidated, with $7. million coming from long positions—indicating strong sell-side pressure.

Technical outlook: Will $SUI drop below $1?

The $SUI/USD 4H chart is bearish and efficient as Sui is down by 10% in the last 24 hours. At press time, $SUI is trading below the 50-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $1.1558 and the lower Bollinger Band at $1.1442, showing short-term bearish bias.

The token remains above the 200-period EMA at $1.0270, suggesting that the broader recovery structure is still intact despite waning momentum.

Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson, a Pennsylvania Republican, and Representative Angie Craig, a Minnesota Democrat, sent a letter to the president on Friday, urging the nomination of four more commissioners — two from each party. Currently, the agency is in the highly unusual situation of being led by its Republican chairman, Mike Selig, who is the sole commissioner.

"As the Commission carries out its work, the public, the markets and the agency itself will be best served by a full five-member commission," the lawmakers argued in the letter, which they'd said they were writing during a hearing last month. "This will result in better regulations, more durable rules, and more sensitivity to the divergent views of key derivatives market stakeholders."

They noted that Congress and the White House are working to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act that "significantly expands the CFTC’s mandate to bring spot digital commodity

transactions under federal oversight, which would require a significant rulemaking process."
