Standard Chartered’s venture arm SC Ventures has invested about $150 million in crypto market maker GSR at a valuation above $1 billion, marking GSR’s first external stake since its 2013 founding.

The deal is framed as a broader partnership to build regulated, scalable infrastructure that links traditional finance with digital assets and expands access to tokenization for institutional clients.

The investment deepens Standard Chartered’s push into digital assets, following its launch of custody and spot bitcoin and ether trading services and its reported bid to fully acquire crypto custodian Zodia, while GSR continues to grow via acquisitions to bolster its tokenization business.

Bullish to acquire Equiniti in $4.2 billion deal combining transfer agent and tokenization stack

Bullish said it agreed to acquire Equiniti in a $4.2 billion transaction structured as $1.85 billion in assumed debt and about $2.35 billion in Bullish stock.

The deal unifies Bullish’s tokenization stack with a regulated agent to create an integrated blockchain-enabled issuer services provider, according to a statement.

Bullish (BLSH) has agreed to acquire Equiniti, a global transfer agent, from private equity firm Siris in a $4.2 billion deal that marries the crypto exchange’s tokenization infrastructure with a regulated shareholder services firm that processes $500 billion in annual payments, the company announced on Tuesday. 

The $4.2 billion consideration includes $1.85 billion of assumed Equiniti debt and approximately $2.35 billion in Bullish stock priced at $38.48 per share. The deal also grants Siris a call option to acquire non-core Equiniti business lines, which were excluded from the transaction’s financial disclosures, the Tom Farley-led exchange said in a statement.

According to the statement, the acquisition merges Bullish’s blockchain issuance and compliance services with Equiniti’s role as a system of record for 20 million shareholders. 

Bullish said the combined platform is designed to operate alongside existing capital markets infrastructure, including CSDs such as DTCC, Euroclear, and Clearstream, as well as custodians and broker-dealers, while maintaining compatibility with existing books and records. 

It will utilize Equiniti’s SEC-registered transfer agent status and FCA-regulated UK operations alongside Bullish’s licensed digital asset infrastructure, per the statement.

Responding to critics, Morgan said, “For those who keep insulting me for saying XRP follows Bitcoin, I am referring to correlation.”

He further explained what he actually meant.

According to Bill Morgan’s recent comments, XRP price action remains strongly linked with Bitcoin price moves. However, he said this does not mean XRP copies every Bitcoin move exactly.

“The correlation coefficient between bitcoin price movement and XRP price movement is quite high, although it varies. It is a directional correlation which does not mean, for example, that if bitcoin price rises or falls by a specific percentage, the corresponding XRP move will be identical as a percentage.”

Morgan isn’t speaking in a vacuum. The data support his view.

Right now, the 90-day correlation between XRP and Bitcoin is 0.628. On a scale where 1.0 means both move the same, this is a strong connection.

According to the chart, $XRP is still trapped in a larger downward trend. The 50 EMA continues to decline above price, and the
100 EMA is even higher, serving as a ceiling that hasn't been seriously contested. This is a weak relief move inside a bearish structure, not a trend reversal.
The local pattern supports that opinion.
While volume is fading into near inactivity, price is forming a tightening range with a slight upward bias. Usually, that combination has a negative outcome. Breakouts don't last without new inflows. When they don't succeed, the move usually ends abruptly.
How price responds to resistance is another problem. Before stalling, $XRP barely makes it into important zones. There is no increase in volatility, no aggressive follow-through, and no buying pressure spike. It is hesitant.
This type of behavior usually indicates fatigue rather than accumulation.
For the time being, support in the $1.30-$1.35 range is still present, but it is weakened by repeated tests without significant rebounds. A sharper decline than most anticipate is possible if that level gives way, because there isn't much structure below to catch the price immediately.
This is not a good situation for investors. In technical analysis, rising price with declining volume is one of the more reliable warning indicators. Although it strongly skews the odds in favor of a drop, it does not guarantee one
