Trump Advisor Meets with Bukele Amid US Interest in Bitcoin Strategy

Beau Hines, who leads digital asset policy in Donald Trump's circle of advisors, held talks with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, signaling potential coordination between the two countries on cryptocurrencies.

The meeting focused on exploring joint opportunities in the field of Bitcoin and digital asset infrastructure. While no formal agreements were announced, the Salvadoran BTC office confirmed that the two countries are exploring ways to collaborate, which could potentially lay the groundwork for future strategic cooperation.

Hines' visit comes as Trump's team is reportedly working on a plan to create a strategic Bitcoin reserve, which aims to accumulate through confiscations and strategies at no additional cost.

Although the US has yet to directly purchase Bitcoin, El Salvador’s bold move – to make BTC legal tender and create a national reserve exceeding 6,000 tokens – could prove to be a model worth following.

Meanwhile, El Salvador continues to invest in crypto and technology education across the country, with officials saying the goal is to equip younger generations with not only coding skills but also forward-thinking, ethical, and innovative skills.

As the Trump camp leans increasingly toward pro-crypto policies and regulatory clarity, recent contacts with Bukele could be early signs of stronger international crypto diplomacy.
